I have talked to a few employees who love working there. I have a strong suspicion that some Home Depot stores are well run, and...some aren’t.
And some employees will bitch no matter what...and some will enjoy their job no matter what.
Of course, I have taken to calling them “Home Despot”...:)
Not because of any bad experience...I just thought it was funny when I heard someone say it!
Yea, verily.
Especially near state borders.
: ) I worked there for almost 20 years. It was good for me and i was treated well. There were some bad dept heads but I took my concerns to the store managers and assistants and they were properly dealt with. I was a very good “worker”...it started out as a part-time gig and when my automotive job went kaput i transitioned to full time. Some bad ones in automotive too. That company went bankrupt. Quite the experiences I’ve had.
I did notice that when i went in between Thanksgiving and Christmas this last year that they were not playing Christmas music. They alway played it between Thanksgiving and Christmas in the store. I alway looked forward to it. Some employees complained about it when I worked there.
My daughter works at HD and loves it. Although I think it is more that the job fits her personality more than it has to do with HD.
She works at the customer service desk. Was visiting her and walking through the store and she said hello by name to all of the other employees. I was impressed (she’s young). “Yeah, there’s a new guy in paint that I haven’t met so I don’t know his name yet - but everyone else I do and make a point to talk with them. I have to deal with all the departments, so....”
With all the folks being home during Covid, HD did lots of business with home improvements. She got almost $1,000 as a bonus for last year, making just a bit more than minimum wage.
