Maryland is the latest to join a growing number of states looking to cash in by legalizing sports gambling, as Governor Larry Hogan prepares to sign a bill opening the state to sports bettors.

The governor plans to sign a bill that would grant in-person sports betting licenses to several prominent Maryland sporting and gambling venues such as casinos, Pimlico Downs, Laurel Park, and the stadiums for the Baltimore Orioles, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Washington Football Team.

Hogan is truly TOXIC to my state of Maryland.

I've lived in the socialist democratic peoples republic of Maryland for the last 40 years, he is way better than any democRat governor we've had recently.

He's only the second republican governor we've had since Spiro Agnew and the only one to be re-elected.

Your problem is the people around DC and in Baltimore who control most of the state’s politics. I think you’re right that Hogan is about the best Maryland is going to get. And it took a real screw-up predecessor and a terrible candidate from the Democrats for Hogan to have ever had a chance in the first place.

States like Maryland, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and California will elect a “Republican” once in a blue moon, but he’s not going to be a staunch conservative. Other states will never touch a Republican of any kind. Their options are far left and extreme left.

I’m a lifelong Marylander, born May 29, 1960—and Hogan never ceases to infuriate me, especially with his incessant attacks on our greatest POTUS Donald Trump.

Being the ONLY republican being re-elected doesn’t impress me one bit. Hogan espouses mostly liberal philosophies and is a proud card-carrying member of the NeverTrumper RINOs.

I have much more respect for our late MD chief executive Spiro Agnew and Bob Erhlich and just about all the other previous MD govs than this big mouth.

Your problem is the people around DC and in Baltimore who control most of the state’s politics.

Montgomery, Prince Georges, and Baltimore counties have been solid blue for many decades. A few others have gone blue in the last couple of decades leaving western Md and the Eastern shore as the only reliably red parts.

The real problem is not in the governor's office but in the state house where there are no term limits and the same people get re-elected every four years. Just like congress.

I used to respect Steele, but he sold out his principles IMO to get his gig on MSNBC.
