I’d thought I’d heard of ivermectin before. Turns out it is used to prevent heartworms in dogs. It’s an antiparasitic. Is covid a parasite?

It also has been used in humans for certain worms, like pinworms.

“I thought I’d heard of ivermectin before.”

Your lack of addiction to FR is showing:)

It’s an antiparasitic. Is covid a parasite?

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

No, but it binds to the spike protein & keeps it from attaching to cells & replicating. It is prophylactic as well as working as a treatment. It has been out there for 40-50 years or so - the person who discovered it received a Nobel Prize. Very minimal side effects .... considered quite safe. CHEAP - so of course it’s been ignored by the “vax or nothing” crowd.

If you want the truth about ivermectin, here’s a discussion:

Ivermectin discussion starts about 27 minutes in - bit of a ‘preamble’ on youtube censorship first. As of today 5/18, video is still up.

Ivermectin is a Nobel Prize-winning drug. Anti-malarial around the globe; and antiviral is still being explored.

Its supposed to be a side effect of Ivermectin that acts as a palliative to the effects of Covid infection. It somehow (mechanism is not yet understood) prevents Covid from breaking through human cell walls. This has been reliably shown to work under lab conditions. Less ability to propagate in cells, less viral load, and thus less damage. That is, it is claimed to improve survival odds for infected people.
If it is widely taken in a population as a preventative, the lower viral load of infected people may also reduce transmission.
Its still uncertain whether it works in the human body as well as it does in the lab.

COVID doesn’t just infect you, it also infects several different types of microorganisms living inside you.

The famous symptom of losing sense of taste and smell is because of toxins given off by infected gut bacteria.

As for ivermectin, there is a mechanism where the drug interferes with viral reproduction. - https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0166354220302011#:~:text=Ivermectin%20binds%20to%20and%20destabilises,normal%2C%20more%20efficient%20antiviral%20response

It has long been (30 years) used for "River Blindness" in Africa, pills donated by Merck. It’s an antiparasitic, like hydroxychloroquine.

Ivermectin has a broad range of application, among which are as an antiparasitic.
.....
From the abstract preface of
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32533071/
.....
“In this comprehensive systematic review, antiviral effects of ivermectin are summarized including in vitro and in vivo studies over the past 50 years. Several studies reported antiviral effects of ivermectin on RNA viruses such as Zika, dengue, yellow fever, West Nile, Hendra, Newcastle, Venezuelan equine encephalitis, chikungunya, Semliki Forest, Sindbis, Avian influenza A, Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome, Human immunodeficiency virus type 1, and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. Furthermore, there are some studies showing antiviral effects of ivermectin against DNA viruses such as Equine herpes type 1, BK polyomavirus, pseudorabies, porcine circovirus 2, and bovine herpesvirus 1. Ivermectin plays a role in several biological mechanisms, therefore it could serve as a potential candidate in the treatment of a wide range of viruses including COVID-19 as well as other types of positive-sense single-stranded RNA viruses.”
