Texas House Approves Bill Banning Plant-Based Foods from Using ‘Meat’ on Labels
Breitbart ^ | 05.15.2021 | Amy Furr

Plant-based and additional meatless products are accused of misleading buyers under a bill the Texas House approved Monday.

“Texas is the latest state to debate measures that would prohibit foods that don’t contain animal products from using words like ‘meat’ or ‘beef’ in their name,” the Dallas Morning News reported.

The bill was approved following a debate but needs one additional vote in the House to move on to the Texas Senate.

According to Rep. Brad Buckley, his bill would help protect consumers, including vegetarians and vegans, from purchasing a product by mistake.

“This is for those who choose to eat meat, but it’s also for those who choose to not eat meat,” explained Buckley, a Killeen Republican who helps manage a small cattle operation.

The News article continued:

House Bill 316 would prohibit products derived from insects, plants or cell cultures — which come from in vitro animal cells harvested in the lab and not slaughtered animals — from using the terms “meat,” “pork,” “poultry product” and “beef” in their names. Using these words could result in a company being accused of misleading consumers. The bill would not bar these products from using broader terms, like “burger.”

Just use an honest ingredient list. Those who want to buy plant burgers are welcome to do so. But also let us meat-eaters know if it is 100% beef, chicken, pork, etc. Also would like to know where all this "stuff" comes from.

The most chemically-processed crap on the planet. The ingredients used won’t fit on the label…

Such a waste of time to go through the legislative process for such an obvious case of false advertising.

I wouldn't eat plant based “meat”, but the packaging is usually clear that it is vegetable based. The greater concern is not plant based “meat” but artificially produced meat produced from embryos of cattle, chicken, hogs, etc. What Bill Gates and others are promoting is something out of science fiction: a product out of a test tube that would be hard to distinguish from real meat. The long term goal is to eliminate animal husbandry in this country and elsewhere, the “Green New Deal” and the rewilding of rural America. Hopefully, the language in the bill will prevent Big Food from peddling test tube meat from meat coming from pasture and feeder livestock.

Had a vegan co-worker recently gave me a plant based chicken nugget.

It tasted like chicken but the texture was horrible. It was like a super gummy.

I said to her “Well it tastes like chicken but what chemicals do they add to make it taste like chicken”.

The look on her face was priceless!

Meanwhile, thanks to Congress knickknacks under to the WTO, I still don’t know where my real meat comes from.

Note to Texas: Do something about THAT.

I like that we’re attacking the cancel culture but soon it seems we’ll be playing their games and tactics. I simply want limited government and get government the heck out of our lives.

Yes!

Just call it plant burger, plant roast, plant bacon, plant taco filling, plant jerky, etc.

Why do vegetarians need to pretend they’re eating meat, anyway?

Do carnivores eat pretend veggies made of meat?

Thanks for the link.

Makes you wonder what solvent the soybeans are “soaked” in to isolate the protein.

Just use an honest ingredient list. Those who want to buy plant burgers are welcome to do so.

It’s a long, long list of ingredients in fake meat. And it is indeed deceptive to put it alongside real meat in the grocery store.

At my local supermarket, I’ve seen this section labeled as “plant-based meat”. A chicken, pig, or beef cow is plant-based meat. Real meat *is* plant-based.

It’s a good start. Now if the Texas legislature could also ban the use of the word “milk” for plant juices like soy juice and almond juice.

I Love how the lack of basic knowledge about how plants grow is going to backfire on these crazies.

Plants thrive on CO2. They use CO2 & make oxygen.

At the same time that these idiots want us to ONLY eat plant based products, they want no CO2 in the atmosphere.

When you have completely destroyed the meat processing/growers, etc, and then the need for ‘plants’ becomes MUCH higher, the CO2 lower levels will produce LESS PLANTS.

WE ALL STARVE.

Plant based "meats" have been around for several decades, as well as nut or soy "milk". Who would buy food generated by insects or feces, or for that matter, test tube generated meat? Only by shrewd and unremitting propaganda, as Hitler and Himmler once observed. Edward Bernays, the founder of modern marketing, carefully detailed the means of mass persuasion.

The self styled masters of the universe note that in 1980, pederasty, homosexual "marriage", and genital mutilation were opposed by perhaps 99% of the population. They are aware that in 1960, smoking was considered a mostly harmless habit. Pray that the enemies of God and civilization will not prevail.
