A Marine Corps officer became the first active-duty service member charged for his role in the January 6 Capitol Hill demonstration, according to the Department of Justice.
Maj. Christopher Warnagiris, 40, who is stationed at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia, was arrested Thursday and charged with assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers or employees, obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder, obstruction of justice/Congress, knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.
According to a Department of Justice press release, Warnagiris can be seen in video footage pushing a Capitol Police officer while he was attempting to close the door to the Capitol, pushing through a line of guards blocking the building’s East Rotunda doors.
“Once inside, Warnagiris positioned himself in the corner of the doorway, using his body to keep the door open and pull others inside. When a U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) officer tried to pull the doors shut, Warnagiris refused and continued pushing it open,” the department stated.

Insurrections involve firearms in the modern era. There were no firearms used by the protestors that I have seen. “Insurrection” is agitprop from the Left/Deep State.
I wonder how many antifa types they had to sort through and ignore before getting to the white Marine they were salivating for.
Yeah, I am thinking at most a charge of disorderly conduct considering what BLM got away with during the summer riots.
They ran checks on social media and other sources of monitoring and found he said bad things about the ComDem’s and proceeded to make up a case against the Major.
It is the #ComDem_Way!
Pelosi long ago said, we make these things up as we go along.
He’ll probably say he was following direct orders from his Commander in Chief.
Probably get 3 years prison.
Busted in rank.
Dishonorable discharge.
That’s how our corrupted government works.
BLM and Antifa...feel free to destroy, assault and burn down America.
Ooh... disorderly conduct.
The “siege” was staged.
Purging the military of patriots
Disregarding, for a moment, the uneven application of justice in our new Banana Republic, if this Marine was the one who knocked the cop on his ass, he’s got a problem.
Get a good attorney and subpoena all the films the government will not let us see. Then show these alongside BLM riots and ask why does one group not get charged? Some earlier news clips showed guards allowing the crowd into the Capital. So apparently you are allowed in then charged with trespassing. Reeks of a setup to me.
Correction - it is what happened, because the leftist marxist media says so. That's just the way it is.
Gave himself up with nary a fight. But hey, "When they come for my guns..."
*eyeroll*
The word insurrection is not in the charge. The actual charge is assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers, obstruction of law enforcement, obstruction of Congress, violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol Grounds, and entering or remaining in a restricted building without lawful authority. All talk for minor offences.
But as an 18 year career Marine, and a field grade officer, I suspect they are going to get him on the military side. And if they are kind to him, they’ll go after article 134 and allow him to remain in current rank and position until 2 more years and elected retirement. That would be his “out.” Otherwise court martial and they can jerk his retirement he has 18 years into along with service to non-VA determined medical problems and pay some dime.

OOOOOOoooooh, he pushed a cop!
Considering what’s happened to cops and U.S. cities in the past 4 years, this is probably the least serious.
Lucky for him, he can resign his commission, and move on.
If he were enlisted, they’d lock him up and then BCD him.
Nice straw man. You are confusing one issue with another. From the video this Marine broke a number of laws and should be held accountable for that. The unequal applications of those laws when in reference to blm is a whole other issue but the fact is this man broke the law. Jan 6th was an unarmed mistake. If you storm a capital it’s not to take selfies and scream at the people inside. You seize the capital and the people inside with arms and force change. Those who forced there way into the actively working branch of our government with the goal of preventing it’s completion of it’s duty to certify the EC votes is a crime a rather large federal one at that.
Chicom or Glowie?
