Matt Gaetz associate expected to plead guilty in case that spawned sex-trafficking investigation

The former Florida tax official whose criminal case spawned a sex trafficking investigation into Rep. Matt Gaetz is expected to plead guilty, court filings show.

Joel Greenberg, the former Seminole County tax collector, had previously pleaded not guilty to several charges, including stalking, wire fraud and sex trafficking of a minor. But it was revealed in court last month that Greenberg had been in talks with prosecutors to plead guilty.

At the time, Greenberg lawyer Fritz Scheller told reporters, “I’m sure Matt Gaetz isn’t feeling very comfortable today," later clarifying that when he said Gaetz "was worried, let me tell you what I’m basing that on. You’ve seen the number of stories out there and the emphasis is on their relationship. Isn’t it obvious to assume that he would be concerned?”

A change of plea hearing is scheduled for Monday morning in federal court in Orlando. It's unclear what charges Greenberg will plead guilty to, and a judge would have to sign off on any agreement.

In the absence of facts? No.

And will he testify against Gaetz and others for a lighter sentence? I’d be very surprised if he didn’t.

How does this affect Gaetz?

Are Jeffery Dahmer’s friends all guilty of cannibalism too?

If the guy had anything of value to offer he would have been granted immunity and walked. You can bet the left wing slime would have made it happen.

So, is this the guy who was part of the extortion plot against Gaetz, who claimed he had something on Gaetz in order to get a plea deal?

Did he do it, or is the plea to avoid being tried by 12 people not smart enough to get out of jury duty?

Scheller could be disbarred, suspended (by the Court/Bar Association) and/or sued(by Gaetz) for what he said/implied if proven false).

Shysters like him give the honest lawyers a bad name. Greenberg doesn’t seem like a good person to me but that will have to come out in any plea agreement, etc. and possible lawsuit by Gaetz.

I still want to know about Stephen Alford. He's a shady character lurking in the background.

Stephen Alford, a twice-convicted felon. I wonder what role he played. Could it be Mr. Alford was compromised and became a government asset and maybe was enlisted to set-up Gaetz?

Once the name Stephen Alford became public the Gaetz story disappeared.

Find out how Stephen Alford was involved and you crack the case open.

"Man accused of trying to extort Matt Gaetz admits he asked for cash"

Kent said the document was put together by Stephen Alford, a Florida developer who has previously been accused of fraud.

Remember, Scooter Libby was sent to prison on false evidence. Matt should be very concerned.
