On Wednesday, Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) shocked leftists on Twitter by claiming that “there was no insurrection” on January 6, 2021. He noted that many of those who entered the Capitol that day behaved like tourists. The Twitterati were aghast that someone could say such a thing, but Clyde had a point. Of course, the Capitol riot was a dark day in American history, but the Left has exaggerated it far out of proportion.
Two seemingly incompatible views of the Capitol riot are in fact both correct. The Capitol riot was a last-ditch attempt to stop the lawful process of Congress reading the Electoral College results of Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election, which remains clouded by election irregularities. The Capitol riot was also a peaceful protest in which many protesters entered the Capitol and acted like tourists after the aggressive rioters in the vanguard had broken through the Capitol Police.
Both of these versions of events are accurate, though partisans exaggerate the meaning of these phenomena.

Let’s begin with Clyde’s remarks.
“Let me be clear: There was no insurrection, and to call it an insurrection, in my opinion, is a bold-faced lie,” the congressman said. “Watching the TV footage of those who entered the Capitol and walked through Statuary Hall showed people in an orderly fashion staying between the stantions and ropes taking videos and pictures.”
“If you didn’t know the TV footage was a video from January the sixth, you would actually think it was a normal tourist visit,” he added.
Former NBA player Rex Chapman couldn’t believe Clyde’s remarks. “Has anyone told him it’s all on video?” Chapman asked.

Rorschach test, also called Rorschach inkblot test, projective method of psychological testing in which a person is asked to describe what he or she sees in 10 inkblots, of which some are black or gray and others have patches of colour. The test was introduced in 1921 by Swiss psychiatrist Hermann Rorschach. It attained peak popularity in the 1960s, when it was widely used to assess cognition and personality and to diagnosis certain psychological conditions.
Responses to the Rorschach test are typically scored on the basis of the location in the blot of the thing seen, the kind of stimulus characteristic emphasized (e.g., form or colour), and the content of the percept (e.g., animal). From response scores, the psychologist attempts to describe the subject’s personality, often by comparing scores with established norms.
Insurrections involve weapons.
This is Rep. Andrew Clyde (Q-GA) saying the January 6 insurrection looked like “a normal tourist visit” inside the Capitol.
Just batsh*t crazy.

there is ample footage of the Capitol riot, some of it extremely disturbing. Yet much of the footage is just as Clyde described it: many of those who entered the Capitol on January 6 did indeed stay inside the ropes, admiring the Capitol. It seems they thought that the People’s House was open for their tourism as part of the protest.
At the same time, rioters intent on stopping the certification of the Electoral College vote did indeed lead the crowd to break the Capitol Police lines. These rioters broke into the Capitol violently and injured police officers in a lawless attack.
The Left has seized on the language of “insurrection” to suggest that the Capitol riot represented an assault on America’s constitutional government, or, in their words, on “democracy itself.” While some of the rioters did indeed attempt to prevent the lawful process of announcing Electoral College votes, many of the protesters demanded an investigation into election irregularities, rather than a coup in which Donald Trump would be declared the winner.
Insurrection was what happened in Portland Oregon for about 100 days (and nights) last summer...firebombs,bricks,arson.Insurrection is murdering an unarmed woman...an Armed Forces veteran...in cold blood.
Nobody heard the cries of Antifa! Antifa! outside the breaking windows?
It was planned in advance by The Resistance, Antifa, and BLM with Nancy Pelosi as the ringleader.
Nutshell.
It was a protest against a commie/socialist takeover, a fraudulent election and coup to remove President DJT. Now many of the patriotic protesters languish in jail with no bail and trumped up charges by our KGB.
There needs to be more of this pushback about what happened on January 6. They call it an insurrection, we call it a tourist visit.
Yes, and an insurrection also involves some plan which, if successful, could plausibly lead to a government takeover. So how exactly could that be achieved by getting control of the Capitol? There are no assets in that building anyone could possibly use to take over our country. Such an effort could only be achieved through massive coordinated attacks on federal and state military bases throughout our country. The most they could hope for in taking over the Capitol is to obtain something like the guest lists for upcoming events there, which would then have been cancelled anyway until they got thrown out.
RE: They call it an insurrection, we call it a tourist visit.
I all it a mostly peaceful protest INFILTRATED by trouble makers.
There were nearly half a million people on DC that day. If it were an insurrection, the Capitol Building would be overwhelmed. In the first place, Where are the weapons?
“Insurrections involve weapons.”
I’ve said it before; the demographic of people at Trump’s rally are the most well armed civilians in the world, yet nobody brought a gun.
“It’s all on video.” He’s right. The Capitol and its grounds are bristling with security cameras. There are an estimated 14,000 hours of footage for the 8 hours between noon and 8 p.m. in govt. hands, but they’re doing everything in their power to avoid releasing the footage. A choice bit was released to Congress for the second impeachment, but all other footage we’ve seen was from reporters and attendees.
And the truth of the matter lies somewhere in between.
I guess that makes the Boston Tea Party, Lexington Green and Concord Bridge a “dark day in American history”.
Filthy patriot criminals
It was little more serious than a College Frat Prank, in whichi Ashlely Babbit was executed by Capitol Police.
The Dems blew it out of all proprtion according to the facts.
If the left does not cease and desist, they will have a real insurrection on their hands.
This is actually similar to the Kuleshov effect:

People see what they want to see. This is especially apparent in the various interpretations of the shooting of the woman that led to her death.

Compare and Contrast with BLM or Antifa riots.
Were there any property destruction on a large scale in the Capitol Building? Was there mass looting? Was anything burned?
All you need to see is the congress critters terrified and crouched down behind their desks to know they will always consider this the biggest terroist attack since Pearl Harbor.
Never mind that the people they represent who live in the cities, and especially the antifa zones, spend every night just as terrified.
When their on bacon in is the pan, though, that’s when they demand action and revenge.
...yet nobody brought a gun.
It’s shoe polish!
It’s a dessert topping!
