Rep. Herrera Beutler will vote to keep Liz Cheney in GOP House leadership

SEATTLE — Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Wash., one of 10 Republican U.S. House members who voted to impeach Donald Trump for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection, says she will vote to retain Rep. Liz Cheney in Republican leadership.

Cheney, who also voted to impeach the former president, is expected to be ousted from her position this week.

“Jaime will be voting to keep the House leadership in place,” Beutler’s spokesman Craig Wheeler told The Seattle Times in an email. Wheeler said the congresswoman had no additional comment.

Beutler represents the 3rd Congressional District in southwest Washington.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has set a Wednesday vote for removing Cheney from her No. 3 Republican leadership post. He sent a letter Monday to GOP lawmakers saying it was clear that he and his fellow Republicans “need to make a change.”

The GOP needs to be beaten to do anything right for the country. I see very little fight for 2022 and 2024. They are quite content being the bitch of the DNC and letting senial Biden drool over signing the country away. It is rather nauseating.

Find me a post where I supported Liz Cheney, or shut your trap.

The fact that you are NOT celebrating Cheney's political demise, but you are all over FR with whiney posts about your fellow Freepers' criticism of RINOs says it all.

Trump was/is going to take her out of Congress, and more power to him. There is NO NEED to have RINOs in the House from red districts...although the Senate is different, unless we really want the Democrats to destroy the country.

Sure, big pic is policy. However, when your FELLOW REPS say she has TDS, that her personal hatred for Trump has her blind to all else, and that she is ‘not salvageable’, it’s policy plus ..... and the ‘plus’ is overriding everything else.

I’m really disappointed with Liz. I thought she was bright and conservative several years ago. But most Republicans are there to party and hobnob with Hollywood and Financial elites.

“We need to teach the GOP a lesson by letting the Democrats get uncontested power and destroy the country for our kids and grandkids.”

I understand your frustration and the reason for your sarcasm - I feel the same..

But there is some truth to the idea that we need to let RINOs lose - even if that means a Democrat wins.

This mentality of holding our noses and voting for anyone with and “R”, just to win a majority in the House or Senate - that is what has led to RINOism.

We need to abandon that mentality and vote only on merits - completely ignoring the party label - even if it means not “controlling” the House or Senate.

If half the Republicans controlling the House or Senate are RINOs - what good does it do us anyway?

Any self labled Republican supporting Cheney is on Pelosi’s payroll or her compromised lists:

Pelosi Producing Oppo Research For Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger To Attack Republican Leaders: GOP Source
Daily Wire ^ | Today | By Ryan Saavedra
Posted on 5/11/2021, 8:41:04 AM by cba123

A top source close to Republican leadership in the nation’s capital says that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is producing opposition research for Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) to attack House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy over the party’s decision to vote this week on Cheney’s position as Conference Chair, the No. 3 spot in House Republican leadership.

Axios reported late on Monday evening that Pelosi was “feeding oppo research against” McCarthy “so others can use the same harsh rhetoric to frame the Republicans as the party of dysfunction.”

Here’s the problem: We both agree on the threat the Democrats are to this country as it exists today, but you still don’t seem to want to prevent it as much one would expect...given what you just agreed with.

Maybe you don’t understand what “RINO” means.

A Republican “in name only” is just a Democrat calling himself a “Republican”.

Having Democrats in Congress calling themselves “Republican” may give the appearance that Republicans hold a majority, but that majority is an illusion, and does NOTHING to prevent Democrats from destroying the country.

In fact, the deception makes it that much easier for the Democrats to sell their lies - by making legislation appear “bipartisan” when it’s not - and by confusing voters regarding what their elected representatives really stand for.

“A Republican “in name only” is just a Democrat calling himself a “Republican”.”

I guess you DO NOT understand then. There is now a bill in the Senate to ensure that Republicans NEVER can win another election. The bill has 49 votes for (all Democrats) and 50 votes against (every Republican). Manchin wants a more narrow bill.

So, to me, and probably everyone else reading this, there is a HUGE DIFFERENCE between the parties on this bill, at least, even between RINOs and Democrats, since EVERY RINO is opposing this bill.

If what you say were true (that there’s no difference), then why don’t at least some of those RINOs support this reform? This is also happening on a number of other major bills (RINOs siding with conservatives, but not Democrats siding with us). And this happened many, many, times with judges when Trump was president.

If not a difference between RINOs and Democrats, then why are the RINOs siding with Cruz on this, when none of the Democrats are???

I would run against McCarthy as nothing more than a protest candidate. He does not belong as speaker. People in Bakersfield might be impressed with his ranking in the house but if they look at the big picture McCarthy needs a fire lit under his ass. Not me I don’t live there.

“If not a difference between RINOs and Democrats, then why are the RINOs siding with Cruz on this, when none of the Democrats are???”

Obviously, anyone wanting to ever win again as a Republican (including RINOs) would be be a fool not to vote against that bill.

RINOs vote with the Republicans more often than not, to keep up appearances.

Let’s take a hypothetical example:

Let’s say you are a RINO senator, and you 100% support the Democrat political agenda, but for strategic purposes, you ran as a Republican and you call yourself a Republican.

Now, let’s say the Democrats sponsor a bill before the Senate requiring that any Senator with the Republican Party affiliation will be hanged just for having the name “Republican”.

As a RINO, would you want your Democrat friends to win that vote, knowing that if it passed, you’d be hanged for calling yourself a Republican?

Of course not.

Another example:

Let’s say you are a House RINO and you support the Democrat agenda 100%. Democrats have a majority in the House and there is a Leftist bill that all Democrats are supporting to shut down a pipeline or something.

As a RINO, you support the job-killing bill, but there are enough real Democrats to pass it without your vote.

Do you vote with your Democrat friends even though your RINO vote is not needed to pass it? Of course not. That would give you away. You would vote with the Republicans to keep up appearances.

That is what is going on here - the RINOs pick and choose when to betray their Republican constituencies. More often than not, they vote with the Republicans to keep up appearances - especially when their votes won’t make a difference anyway.

But on key strategic votes, like Obamacare, or impeachment, when the Democrats need that extra one or two votes to put them over the top - or to make something look “bipartisan” - a RINO or two will conveniently step forward to “vote their conscience”.

FReepers know which ones are the RINOs - even when they vote with the Republicans most of the time on symbolic votes like this one.. they aren’t fooling anyone.

Well, maybe they are fooling you. :-)
