Apple is sitting on $195 Billion in Cash

Microsoft is sitting on $125 Billion in Cash.

I wonder what they would say to - US Government builds the chip factories, and YOU fund it.

No? No takers?

#11: "If China invades Taiwan.... CHIP prices will SKYROCKET!"

Good point. And it is not "if" it is "when".

Did you see the huge rocket attacks on central Israel today? Since Biden has been in office, all hell has broken lose. And do you think anyone would have dared mess with the gasoline pipeline with President Trump on duty? Biden has triggered worldwide chaos. And it is only just begun …

They don’t need subsidies for Pete’s sake. They need relaxing of manufacturing regulations and polices in place to keep their environment clean. Making of microchips is a dirty (poisonous) process for life forms so it needs to come home and be done right, but with some understanding from Uncle Sam. Not his (our) money.

These high tech companies are worth billions if not trillions and yet they want taxpayer to subsidize a necessary component in their industry. Communism, socialism or fascism, no matter what it is called, that is not what built this country. Capitalism, private and personal investment, Freedom, hard work and good Christian ethics is what built the country.

These processes are so automated nowadays that the place that gets the work is not the one with the lowest wages. It’s the one with the lowest taxes.

True but environmental regulations and construction permits probably also play a role.

There have been a number of articles on Fr that explain that the chip shortage is in the out-dated chip generations that are used in cars and such secondary users.

The computer industry uses the latest chips and the main factories in the US convert to the latest generations of chips which causes the old style to run off of old lines abroad if they still exist.

The problem is auto manufacturers (and similar users) don’t upgrade for the latest tech — not a shortage of the latest chips.

Valid points! Taxes and regulations tell us who gets the factory.

BTW, My parents paid just under $8 for a permit to build their house in King county, Washington in 1967. The same permit today is over $30,000.

That’s not inflation. It’s something else.

Tech companies created this problem themselves by moving manufacturing to Red China. Now let them pay to bring it back.

I think the tech giants need to be run by transvestites and change their mission statements, dedicating themselves to vote fraud.

No subsides. That comes from my wallet. Tarifs on Chinese goods instead.

And, more importantly, reinvest some of the profit so you don’t have to embarrass yourself by begging.

Some of the process is dirty because of regulations. Fluorocarbons are required to be broken down. That creates Hydrofluoric Acid which is very dangerous.
