California Fleeing: Democrats delude themselves about why their state is losing people
American Thinker ^ | 05/10/2021 | Monica Showalter

The 2020 Census results are a complete embarrassment to California's ruling Democrats.

Despite opening the floodgates to millions of illegal aliens, making the state the home to one out of four foreigners who break into the country without authorization, the state has made substandard gains in population over the last decade.

The population that the state did gain over the last decade was well below the 7.4% national average, according to the New York Times, and really bad compared to places like number-one Texas.  As a result, the state is losing a congressional seat, for the first time in its 170-year history.  It's happening despite the 6.1% gain because the number of congressional seats is capped at 435.  Any state that gains a seat does so at the expense of another.  Hello, California.

That's a significant reversal, because until now, California's story has always been about growth, with Census data often showing that its population had doubled

Worse still, the population has gone negative, not merely substandard in growth, just in the past year.  Residents are voting with their feet.

According to Breitbart News:

California's population declined by more than 182,000 people last year, marking the first time in the state's history that it has experienced a year-over-year loss.

State officials said Friday that California's population slid 0.46 percent to slightly under 39.5 million people between January 2020 and January 2021, the Associated Press reported.

Yet despite these embarrassing numbers, brought on by one-party leftist rule in California, state officials delude themselves that it's nothing to do with their policies.  Breitbart notes:

State officials chalk off the declining population over the past year to a declining birth rate, reductions in international immigration, and deaths from the coronavirus.

In West Palm Beach, Florida, my friend and his wife who visited his retired mother said everyone else they were meeting who was buying a home was from someplace else, and most were fleeing the horrors of their own one-party blue states. Most of them were either from NY, NJ or CA.

The former is God given and is a gift to California. The latter is man made and can change.

The tragedy is they are gonna delude themselves about why they fled and bring their so-called progressivism with them, to ruin where they flee to.

No worries...with the 2020 “election”, California is coming to the rest of the country.

These numbers are not final. Expect an announcement that the census conducted under Trump was flawed and seat movement must reverse when the numbers are accurate.

And they will make Florida blue in the next election.

Same with Texas.

Around here I call them plague bearers.

State officials chalk off the declining population over the past year to a declining birth rate, reductions in international immigration, and deaths from the coronavirus.

One thing they never mention is the fact that over a million babies are aborted each year. When Ted Kennedy got that bill passed that "updated" the immigration rates, the government began letting in over one million people per year. That offset the native baby loss so we didn't really notice shortages of people.

But now with all the tricks they have been playing with the immigration rates plus opening up the border, it is really looking out of whack and we are now feeling it all.

Cloward-Pivens.

“declining birth rate, reductions in international immigration, and deaths from the coronavirus.”
And they imagine that these factors effect only California?

I personally know a guy who moved from the Bay Area to Texas. I’m still holding out for the mass exodus from California to lighten the traffic though.

My sleepy little enclave on the Florida coast has seen an extraordinary amount of California license plates. We NEVER saw one in the years we've been living here. It's quite worrisome.

You can have it if you want it. The weather isn’t all that much better and “fun” is relative. Personally, having been born and raised in California, leaving was the best thing I ever did. Don’t miss it one bit. Kinda how I feel about alcohol...when you sober up and realize what life is really about, it just doesn’t hold anything for you anymore. I feel the same way about California.

This lie needs to stop. Read the article.

BS. Most of the ones leaving are the ones who don’t like what’s going on and they know why. There aren’t enough liberals in America to move everywhere and be the majority, there just aren’t.

The 2020 Census results are a complete embarrassment to California's ruling Democrats.

In our dreams. In reality, they're more likely to double-down on ideas that led them to lose enough people to lose a Congressional Seat.

I have a lay-about liberal friend who says the same thing. He’s been there cheating the system for 30 years and he’s going nowhere, he says he’s got it made.

Great... 182,000, many of whom are infesting other states with their virulent leftist ideology.
