There can only be unity if at the core of a culture has a reasonable consensus of commonly held values and behaviors. That simply does not exist in America. Over the past sixty years a significant percentage of the American population has embraced decadence. Widespread drug use, abortion, acceptance of homosexuality and its associated perversions,hedonism, neo pagan earth and celebrity worship, indolence and dependency , pornography and overt delusionary thinking. What do decent, rational people commonly referred to as conservatives have in common with the epicurean decadents who live among them? There is no unity.
Arthur maybe had the big picture right but it didn’t lead to worthwhile policy as it should have.
I think we need a period of benign negelect by the various levels of government even to the point of being color blind in dealing with its citizens. Let people be judged on an individual basis alone,
In my personal life I have had few contacts with blacks but those that I’ve had have been good. I find treating them as I would anyone else works. The Golden Rule is good for all.
