The family of the two victims who were killed in a DWI crash are speaking out for the first time.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office said Cuba police officer Brandon Barber was off-duty, driving drunk and going the wrong way on I-25 when he crashed head-on into an SUV and killed two people.

Diego Robles Arellano, 21, and Alfredo Escaname-Hernandez, 50, died at the scene. Their relative, Fernando Arellano, was also in the vehicle. He remains in critical condition at the hospital.Prosecutors filed to keep Brandon Barber in pretrial detention, but a judge denied that request.

Cases like this are why I support roadside executions for DUI involving injury or death to others.

Failing that, this cop needs to lose his job and certification plus be hit with every applicable charge in the book.

Sounds like the fix is in, and the judge is on-board.

I wonder if this would be news of the drunk driver was a doctor, or lawyer, or pipe fitter. I imagine there were more than just these two killed in DUI crashes that day, week, month. But then it supports the media attack on cops, and undermines society in favor of the communist element.

To counter that, the officer is in charge of enforcing the laws on DUI and should have known better. Also - he wasn’t just driving drunk, he was driving the wrong way on a highway.

Also, I fully support everyone caught in DUI causing injury or death being shot at the side of the road, no matter who they are. Or as close to that as the law allows.

A lot of that going around lately. A similar wreck happened near here two days ago. Drunk going the wrong way on the interstate.

My wife’s nephew was killed by a wrong way driver on I-40 several years ago.

Happens all the time in Germany. They call them Geisterfahrers (Ghost Drivers). They’re drunk, on drugs, suicidal, or just outright sociopaths.

If they’re suicidal or a sociopath, they’ll wait til dark and go the wrong way on the Autobahn at a high rate of speed with no lights on.
