Chuk was called Truk in WW2.

Considering the multiple 10,000s of tons of unexploded Japanese heavy munitions (Artillery & mortar shells, torpedoes, landmines, naval shells) on the bottom of the harbor at Chuk. I’d leave too. Look up “The Great Marianas Turkey Shoot” for the history of the battle that put all that stuff there.

BTW, Guamians don’t really like the Chukese either.

I was about to mention something like that too. When I was there, it seemed like Guamanians had a low view of those from neighboring islands in the Marianas. Just to call someone "Palau" was to imply they were naturally stupid.

It seems to be a universal: until fairly recently, almost every culture or race believed themselves to be superior to some others.
