States asked the federal government this week to withhold staggering amounts of COVID-19 vaccine amid plummeting demand for the shots, contributing to a growing U.S. stockpile of doses.
From South Carolina to Washington, states are requesting the Biden administration send them only a fraction of what's been allocated to them. The turned-down vaccines amount to hundreds of thousands of doses this week alone, providing a stark illustration of the problem of vaccine hesitancy in the U.S.
More than 150 million Americans — about 57% of the adult population — have received at least one dose of vaccine, but government leaders from the Biden administration down to the city and county level are doing everything they can to persuade the rest of the country to get inoculated.

The ones who were really enthusiastic about them got them early on. The remainder couldn’t care less. At least we know that the ones who got it can’t get Covid or pass it on.

We’re still far from reaching a level of vaccination that will result in herd immunity.
Thanks to the deliberate spreading of misinformation, first about the pandemic virus, then about the vaccine, this deadly pandemic is going to be around forever.
Before people jump in on conspiracy theories that directly contradict the science, I wish they would stop and reflect on who benefits from the conspiracies. Who benefits when conservatives are disproportionately affected by the pandemic? Who benefits from a disease that is especially deadly to the elderly? I should not have to point out that the left has been utilizing the conspiracies, both for political advantage, and to further their goals of population control (e.g., removing “useless eaters”).
Worse—herd mentality has been achieved, including with some on FR.
Hint: Why should the left be so upset about some on the right not volunteering for the experimental jab, if it is so good for us all?
Was walking (maskless) toward the door of our local indy grocer when two ladies got out of a car. One (with mask) said to the other (mask at throat), “Well, they SAY we don’t have to wear a mask now, but I’m wearing MINE.”
I thought, When they said “you need a mask” you believed them but now when they say “you don’t need a mask” you don’t believe them.
This was predicted, let it be written.
Several reasons to be skeptical of the “jabs”:
The “jabs” are not approved for general routine use, only FDA approved for “Emergency” use.
The is no accurate follow up for adverse effects: if the “jabs” are given by your PCP then there might be follow up. But when the “jabs” are given at CVS, Walgreens, car washes, drive thru eateries, etc. there is no realistic follow up and adverse effect reporting.
There has been no long term studies of the effects of the “jabs”. RNA could cause DNA mutations which could cause long term adverse effects on your life and overall health.

A lot of morons out there, that includes our very own, unfortunately. COVID-19 is going to be around forever, we’ll just take yearly booster shots.
There is plenty of info from knowledgeable sources that there are many unknowns about the jabs that could turn around and bite the vaccinated. Then, too late, once it's in you it can't be removed or mitigated.

I just read an interview with a Johns Hopkins surgeon who doesn’t agree. He says (giving numbers) between vaccinations and people who have had the virus we are at or very close to herd immunity now.

This is the kind of needless ugliness that cements my determination to not get the shot, thanks.
I would classify as morons:
People who don’t care where the virus came from or how China willfully participated in its spread and is still working with the virus, now.
People who don’t think Cuomo killed thousands by putting COVID infected into nursing homes.
People who weren’t bothered by state governors banning therapeutics for the disease.
Basically, the people who think this was all “natural” and we just have to adapt.

Kudos on staying in the fight exDemMom! You’re not going to convince the dedicated anti-vax contingent, but you’ve consistently posted well reasoned and thoughtful comments on this topic. There’s a lot of heat, and very little light and its refreshing to see reason, rather than emotion applied.
