The Wokest Place on Earth
City Journal ^ | 7 May 2021 | Christopher Rufo

The Social Order The Walt Disney Corporation famously bills its amusement parks as “the happiest place on Earth,” but inside the company’s headquarters in Burbank, California, a conflict is brewing. In the past year, Disney executives have elevated the ideology of critical race theory into a new corporate dogma, bombarded employees with trainings on “systemic racism,” “white privilege,” “white fragility,” and “white saviors,” and launched racially segregated “affinity groups” at the company’s headquarters.

I have obtained a trove of whistleblower documents related to Disney’s “diversity and inclusion” program, called “Reimagine Tomorrow,” which paints a disturbing picture of the company’s embrace of racial politics. Multiple Disney employees, who requested anonymity out of fear of reprisals, told me that the Reimagine Tomorrow program, though perhaps noble in intent, has become deeply politicized and engulfed parts of the company in racial conflict.

The core of Disney’s racial program is a series of training modules on “antiracism.” In one, called “Allyship for Race Consciousness,” the company tells employees that they must “take ownership of educating [themselves] about structural anti-Black racism” and that they should “not rely on [their] Black colleagues to educate [them],” because it is “emotionally taxing.” The United States, the document claims, has a “long history of systemic racism and transphobia,” and white employees, in particular, must “work through feelings of guilt, shame, and defensiveness to understand what is beneath them and what needs to be healed.” Disney recommends that employees atone by “challeng[ing] colorblind ideologies and rhetoric” such as “All Lives Matter” and “I don’t see color”; they must “listen with empathy [to] Black colleagues” and must “not question or debate Black colleagues’ lived experience.”

A very large portion of their workforce is gay.

I don’t have a problem with that until they try to push their values on to others.

I’ve been hearing some variant of this since I was in kindergarten. If folks feel guilty about something, they have a problem I can’t solve. Didn’t own slaves; never kept anyone down nor held anyone back; not standing in anyone’s way.

If you want something, get busy. No one’s going to hand it to you. And stay the hell out of my pockets!

Disneyland itself violates today’s political correctness.

Pirates of the Caribbean glorifies piracy. How do they justify that?

The tiki birds in the Tiki Room are different nationalities and push various national stereotypes.

A Small World is full of national and ethnic stereotypes. Who does Disney think they are, pushing dangerous stereotypes on impressionable children?

What about the Indian settlements on Tom Sawyer Island? More bigoted stereotypes pushed by Disney. Tsk tsk. Shameful.

And what’s with Great Momemts with Mr. Lincoln? The latest is that Lincoln did not care about black people, so that exhibit has got to go. Plus we don’t want to have any positive presentation of American history because we are a racist sexist etc nation.

They have got a lot of work ahead of them to cleanse Disneyland of these harmful imagery.

I’m not sure if this is sarcasm or if the woke crowd at Disney may actually be working on changes such as these.

Skip Disney. Go to the nearest zoo or aquarium.

We always give them too much credit for good intentions.

The left has made enormous headway in this country in large part because Americans are *nice* to a fault. Our core kindness creates a susceptibility to leftist guilt tripping. It is a serious problem.

My freshman year of college I was paired with a black room mate from Detroit (1976). After about 6 weeks he informed me he was moving out. I asked him sincerely if it was anything I had caused and he said basically he really did not want to room with a white dude and he was moving in with a black guy in the next dorm over.

I was so freakin naive it actually hurt my feelings a bit. I've has a dozen or so incidents over the years with black acquaintances, coworkers etc distancing themselves from me due to the color of my skin and quite a ways back realized it was an issue with them and not me and that it was surprisingly common place.

I’m just tired of it all.

Back in the 90s, when Bill Clinton and his antics saturated the airwaves, we used to say that we were “all Bubba-ed out”. Now we’re all Blacked out.

(from the article):" Multiple Disney employees, who requested anonymity out of fear of reprisals, told me that the Reimagine Tomorrow program, though perhaps noble in intent,
has become deeply politicized and engulfed parts of the company in racial conflict."

Such divisiveness, turmoil, and deeply politicized racial conflict comes right out of the Communist Manifesto.
Dizzney is more responsive to their Chinese market than they are to the American homeland base.
It is the Chinese market, supervised and run by the Chinese government,
that encourages government and various businesses to engage in political and social controversy.
Dizzney has already 'sold out' and been 'bought off'.

You think their white, gay male employees like this racist garbage? Generally, that’s probably not the case.

Now, you may say many of them deserve it for supporting Democrats and leftist causes in other ways, but they definitely don’t like it. This latest push is largely by the white women and minorities that fell for the BLM brainwashing in recent years. It’s like someone flipped a switch and made these people crazy.

Disney owns Cong. Val Demings, who among many stupid things, says that her father was a slave... picking oranges in the citrus groves of Central FL. Not possible, and never was possible. His age, and the fact that migrants were pickers mostly after 1890’s in the growing citrus trade.

Queer management, queer mayor (caught in bed with his “pal” by the wife who divorced him. “Buddy” a@@ buddy Dyer is a high heel wearing joke). This is how the fake tourism industry destroyed this beautiful area and brought in... riff raff and scammers. Thinking it be like.... Burbank.

Really good observations. I lived on an integrated military base in 1965 with black best friends. I was the first quarterback for a pro football wide receiver, throwing him crummy passes he had to dive for.

I read James Baldwin and the rest. I loved Murphy and Pryor. Plus all the great athletes and Motown music. But these vermin now tell me I stink because I’m white and nothing I do or did matters. Screw them all.

They have removed the part of Pirates of the Caribbean that shows brides being auctioned off because sexism. I am female and I was never offended by it. They say “sexist”, I say “historically accurate”.
