The SCGOP’s big guns did not come out for the former vice president.
Former vice president Mike Pence made his first big political speech since leaving office last week – traveling to Columbia, South Carolina to headline an event hosted by Palmetto Family, a prominent social conservative organization in this key “First in the South” primary state.

After the South Carolina event, as Pence aides trotted out “luminaries” who hailed his speech (including former SCGOP chairman Chad Connelly) several attendees told me they were shocked by the lack of big-name Republican support at the gathering.
“Where was the governor? The lieutenant governor? The attorney general?” one event attendee told me, referring to Henry McMaster, Pamela Evette and Alan Wilson.
None of those three statewide elected officials attended Pence’s speech – absences which were conspicuous to say the least.
I don’t have an answer, either … but Pence’s Palmetto State visit clearly took place amid an atmosphere of elevated uneasiness and pervasive suspicion within the SCGOP. And make no mistake: Trump loyalists are keeping their eyes peeled for politicos who come off as excessively demonstrative in their support of Pence (and other aspiring 2024 hopefuls who have displeased the former president).
“I had the distinct impression the only Trump people there were taking names,” one GOP strategist who attended the Pence event told me. “Big brother was definitely watching.”
An Upstate activist who attended the event said he caught a Trump backer “staring holes in me” at one point during Pence’s address.
“We we both clapping pretty hard,” the activist told me, recalling the intensity of this unspoken exchange. “Then I realized we weren’t clapping at the same thing.”
So … is this why McMaster, Evette and Wilson took a pass on this event?

Pence who?
Pence is a Political Zombie. He’s dead politically. He just doesn’t realize it. Someone as gutless and clueless as this guy doesn’t belong in a Republican Party I would support.
Pence obviously needs government work to stay afloat ... maybe he can take up preaching ... set himself up a church of the sinless. Maybe there is some real estate near Waco he could set up shop.
Never trusted Pence, he was part of the Boehner, Ryan, Cantor, McCarthy House leadership.
Only Bush League Republicans fully committed to the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA) get into leadership.
Once you’ve shown your “true colors” and take off the mask, you can’t go back to it. pence turned his back on Trump. There is NO walking that back!

I could never vote for a democrat. Were Pence on the ticket for President, I simply would not vote.
Pence is a another swamp critter. He had his chance to demonstrate leadership and failed.
The SC GOP officers are at war with the MAGA precinct committeemen neophytes that are attempting to fill vacancies and wrest party control from the entrenched never Trumpers.

Pence’s visit is more a curveball than anything else as all sides are sizing up, what to think of Pence and how to deal with him.
Nationwide, there were 200,000 empty precinct committeemen seats left intentionally open by the Party’s apparatchiks in order to maintain power and control, before MAGA folks began to seek them out and fill them with their own kind.
The old guard is not going quietly into the night, in fact they are pulling out all the stops and using dirty tricks to thwart the MAGA freshmen.
The SC GOP chairman just canceled an in-person convention in order to disrupt the cohesiveness of the incoming MAGA folks, forcing them to work through a ZOOM gathering. It’s yet to be determined if the Chair gets his way in the end.
Steve Bannon has MAGA fighters on his show almost daily reporting on their battles with the state GOPe party rulers in various battleground states.
Lin Wood did not show up on the scene, until AFTER the pubs in Georgia held a fraudulent election in November... Lin Wood had NOTHING to do with the 'consent decree' made by 'pubs' with Stacy Abrams... The elected 'pubs' in Georgia destroyed themselves, all by themselves ... Stop blaming somebody that had NO power over the actual theft.

Pence is a go along to get along guy and has no balls to stand up for anything substantive from a governmental perspective.
I believe him to be a Christian who is not capable of leading in government.
Georgia Republicans did that all on their own.
