“Honest cops these days tell people that refusing to speak without a lawyer is not indicative of guilt as it was considered in the Prime Boomer Era and before. These days it is indicative that the person isn’t an idiot and doesn’t want to be hit with a process charge or similar when they didn’t do anything wrong.”
I feel that if anyone, and I mean anyone, who would voluntarily answer the questions or make statements to the police, in these corrupt times, should have a good case for insanity.
They can get you for the slightest erroneous statement for, ‘lying to the police,’ even if you simply remembered something not exactly the way that they think that you ‘should have’ remembered it.
If you choose to tell the truth then you open yourself to the wrath of the police. It is a no-win situation for anyone to answer their questions.
Well, you do have to answer them eventually or they can hit you with obstruction of justice charges. But answering any police questions beyond your name and contact info without a lawyer? Hell no.
After a shooting incident, you should follow police instructions on putting the gun down and be taken into custody. After that, your mantra to any question beyond your name and contact info (and the contact info for your lawyer) should be, “I don’t feel well, I think I need medical attention. I will only answer further questions after I have been seen by a doctor and only with the assistance of my lawyer.”
