I won't be surprised if the appeal is rejected. But even if Chauvin gets a new trial, would the outcome be any different? The jurors will still be worried about riots if they come up with the "wrong" verdict, and possibly with their identities becoming public.
Besides, this was just one juror out of 12 and expecting fair trials is an antiquated notion anyway.

A jury is supposed to be composed of the "peers" of the defendant. Peers for Chauvin are other police officers with similar experience. He didn't get a jury of his peers. It was a jury tilted in favor of the state including rabidly anti-police members who LIED in the jury selection process.

In today’s world jurors aren’t worried about riots. They are worried about their personal safety. They know the judicial system will not protect them.
