We already know this case is going to be overturned on appeal; those jurors just handed it to them.

Yah,a t-shirt like that certainly *should* get him a new trial. But now that we know that the highest court in the land is absolutely content with a stolen Presidential (and Senatorial) election I wouldn't hold my breath if I were him.

I won't be surprised if the appeal is rejected. But even if Chauvin gets a new trial, would the outcome be any different? The jurors will still be worried about riots if they come up with the "wrong" verdict, and possibly with their identities becoming public.
Besides, this was just one juror out of 12 and expecting fair trials is an antiquated notion anyway.

Excellent news and a lesson for prosecutors going forward. Questioning prospective jurors isn’t enough, look at their social media activity too.

If the facts are as presented in this article, then there is a potential of a perjury charge against the juror... and definite re-trial bait.

This tidbit of information, Mad Max and Mayor’s statements before verdict and that of the alternate juror confessing of BLM riot intimidation...Chauvin will likely get another trial...and should.
This juror lied to the court straight up.
To: C19fan
All depends on whether a court will even hear the appeal. From the end of last year through now, from the lower courts to SCOTUS, the courts have proven that they do NOT care about justice.
Folks on the Right didn’t riot, destroy lives and businesses, or burn cities. They went on with their lives. Angry as can be, but did it anyway.
Knowing that a mistrial can and SHOULD be declared and no way of seating an impartial jury, leading to overturning the verdict will set the country on fire again. They know that. They won’t do that.

I do believe that’s grounds for reversal.
Biased and lied about something directly related to the incident in order to get on the jury.

That’s enough to ask for a mistrial. (Or whatever the proper legal term is.)

"What may come back to haunt the prosecution is that Mr. Mitchell, 31, answered “no” when asked during jury selection if he had attended any protests for George Floyd. “I think they asked if I attended any protests for George Floyd or anything for police brutality. My answer was no because I hadn’t,” Mr. Mitchell told WCCO-TV in Minneapolis. “This particular march was more so for voting, voter registration. Getting people out to get out and vote for the presidential election that was upcoming a couple months afterward … This was the only thing I attended.”
“The march that he went to, which was on August 28, 2020, was specifically about police brutality,” criminal defense attorney Joe Tamburino, who was not associated with the case, told WCCO. “In fact, it was partly advertised as ‘Get Your Knee Off Our Necks’ and it had speakers with the Floyd family, Breonna Taylor and Jacob Blake.”

(1) Will he be held to account? (2) Will Chauvin get a re-trial? At least one of the jurors clearly had him guilty before the trial.
The answer....should be.... YES to both.

Fish-lipped grinnin mooch. Enjoy it when the cops you be sayin' you be down with at de' gym -- during your juror assessment -- come up during your lunge squat and thank you for providing Chauvin an avenue of appeal that gets him out for time served on the Man2 plea-down, after his conviction is overturned in about 18 months or less. Thanks, mooch! OJ has done more time than Chauvin will ever do.
