It should be OBVIOUS to everyone that China is engaged in a TAKEOVER of our country, one Chinese national at a time via property purchases.

One example, Irvine, CA is now a province of China. English not required. Major supermarket chains are leaving, only to be replaced by Asian markets.

WTF.. ANGERING!

That is the pertinent factor.....why sell at big bucks if you just have to purchase at big bucks?

We looked at it this way. Two old goats (that’s us) are just sitting here on $1M. That made no sense to me. So, our daughter and son-in-law have a nice farm about 25 minutes south of us, the 3 grandkids are there, my son and his girlfriend have property about 10 minutes from the farm. So, we bought a new mobile home (about 1200 sq. ft.) for about $160,000.00 and will set up home on the farm. That gives us next to nothing in living expenses, and we’ll have some extra bling - enough to have both of the kids debt-free and more than we’ll ever need left over.

I would rather help them out now, when they are in their prime and the kids are young, than having them wait until we croak. They’ve already proven themselves to be very hard workers and not foolish with money, so I have no qualms about “spoiling” them.

.... Now I rent one of those $2 million boxes for $4600 a month...

That is just staggering.

$4600.

Every.

Month.

They are taking over. Not all of the purchases are Asians, but many are. It’s very disturbing.

I probably should have written “scared to death” instead of the softer “concerns.” The Dem party is growing faster and raising more money than the Reps in Idaho. It is very worrisome.

Are they living there?

Do they have citizenship?

I can see Chinese moving to Canada and US to escape their dictatorial government, but otherwise, why would they buy property they have no way to check on or take care of?

I agree. I wish our useless government would somehow put a halt to it, but Trudeau is in bed with China.

It was quite a dilemma for me - but I couldn’t tell the realtor “Do not sell to Asians.” The other thing is, do I list it for well below what I could get for it, and try and sell to Canadians? If I do that, I’m cheating my kids. I hope it doesn’t go to Chinese people, but at this point I’m going to set my kids up to be mortgage free, which is the best I can do.

This should have been recognized and stopped a long time ago. I would have been much happier with that - the globalists have all but won.

That’s happening all across the US, too.

There for sure is a bubble.

Right now the only thing saving it is the fact that the Fed is keeping rates down to save CornPop and Harris, the same way they did Soetero. And they haven’t even raised taxes yet. And the increases in property taxes hasn’t happened yet to accommodate all our new neighbors coming from south of the border.

Plywood is over $75 a sheet or more

As for the folks fleeing, what happens to the places they’re leaving behind? In the NYC metro area, folks are buying houses within hours of them going on the market, for over listing price. If they get the house, many are showing up with nothing more than their clothes. Empty apartment high rises all over the place.

Annnd other thing blamed on covid. Can’t wait the for sun rising to be blamed on covid.

Similar sized houses are going for double that here. Decent houses are being purchased at full price but bulldozed so mcmansions can be built on the sites. The high price of lumber isn’t a deterrent. Many people weren’t hurt one bit by covid and have plenty of money to blow. There wasn’t a day during the entire year we didn’t hear the sounds of construction in the neighborhood.

Are we headed for a housing bubble?

Right after a housing bubble breaks is the only time we aren’t heading for a housing bubble.

Sell your house now and buy a nice tent to wait this out.

Interesting subject to me. I’m looking to buy in about a year and a half. I need to see if working from home is going to be the new norm for the bank. If it is and I can do that permanently it has a huge impact on where I would live because I’d like to live in the outer outer suburbs....but I don’t want to make that godawful commute every day so I won’t pull the trigger on a house or townhouse until I know how that shakes out.

I’ve started to look at houses and have been amazed to see EVERYTHING sold. Even half built ones in new subdivisions - all sold already. I also don’t like the postage stamp sized lots that have become the norm in the last 20 years. When the time comes, I’m thinking I may need to buy land and then build what I want (ranch style, fireplace, attached garage maybe 1500 square feet but modern interior w/ walk in closets etc and a fenced in yard). These types of houses were pretty standard about 25 years ago but they don’t seem to make them anymore. Its all houses way bigger than I need or shoeboxes with no yard and/or no garage. Both are unacceptable.

In the meantime, I’ll just keep building up cash.

There is lots of concern that they are bringing their horrible social pathologies with them.

That’s not a concern, that’s a reality. Boise is pretty much gone. From what I’ve been told, mostly emptynester-types who are leaving their Blue homes because they always wanted to live in the rugged mountains. Of course, while they’re all driving around in their Tesla’s and Range Rovers. Real rugged.

Idahoans are being run out of town by the immigrants from elsewhere who can come in and write a check, without blinking. It has a pretty Leftist mayor who has no problems letting the property taxes go so high that the original residents can’t afford it anymore.

So, if you have low crime and not an increase in the need for any other government provided service, why do property taxes go up?

Kalifornians invaded TX 20 years ago and brought their wacko ideas with them. The invasion keeps getting worse.

We were blessed to be in the position of being able to buy another house before selling. We moved into our new property 6 months ago, bought more house at a ridiculously low interest rate. Spent the last few months updating the old home before being put on the market.

...I’ve come out way ahead.

This horrible property tax situation is exactly what led to the Jarvis-Gann revolution in California in 1978. It is needed all across the country.

I am pissed to no end because of what is happening to property taxes — assessed values in Kootenai County appear to be up 47%! All the outsiders flooding in bidding up house prices which causes taxes on long-timers to zoom to the stratosphere. It isn’t going to be long before the long-timers won’t be able to pay their property taxes.

The argument is that roads, sewers, water systems, police, etc all have to be built for the newcomers. Well, let THEM pay for it! I see zero rational basis to tax long-timers to pay for bringing in those who are bent on destroying our way of life.

“Decent houses are being purchased at full price but bulldozed so mcmansions can be built on the sites.”

That’s been going on for 30 years in many cities.

I’m in the mortgage business here in Iowa
I’m seeing irrational behavior by buyers similar to 2007.
It sucks to see this, it won’t end well and will cause a bunch of pain again.
