Argentina coronavirus cases hit 3 million on Sunday since the pandemic began, as medical workers said hospitals were full to capacity despite toughened government measures to bring down the spread of infections.

The country’s health ministry said there were 11,394 new cases over the last 24-hour period, bringing up the grim new milestone, with 156 new deaths taking fatalities to 64,252.

It would appear that there are many people who would avidly accept the vaccines that many Americans, for whom they were manufactured, are refusing to take.

More evidence that 'lockdowns' (e.g., Argentina's "quaranternity") only delay the inevitable. Plus the fact that they're headlong into winter.

It will be interesting to see what our upcoming winter will bring...beyond "Biden saves US from Virus" (/s) in a couple of months.

That’s an interesting statement. Especially considering that America is one of the highest vaccinated countries percentage wise, and in terms of numbers America is number one with 246 million vaccination doses given.

Well there goes the Argentina economy:>/p?

From the article

“Today the health system does not support one more patient,” Kambourian said. “It is already overflowing.”

“We can continue to extend measures every 15 days from here until two years from now if we don’t do what needs to be done, which is to test and vaccinate, test and vaccinate,” he said.

Well good for them... They are more than welcome to take my wife and my dose of experimental vaccine. And this is from someone who spent years as the head of a Hazmat Team. Many, if not most of my former subordinates feel the same way and we all gladly took dozens of vaccinations for other pathogens. It is too bad we cannot all be innoculated from the serious effects of transparent leftist propoganda.

There are 45 M people in Argentina. Total Covid deaths are 64 K.

New York State population is 19 M. Total Covid deaths are 51 K.

It seems that the voluntary vaccination rate is hitting a wall at about 60% of the most vulnerable willing to be vaccinated. About 40% for a wide variety of reasons are refusing or reluctant to be vaccinated. Can understand how those who had a documented COVID infection ( not just upper respiratory tract colonization) and developed antibodies as a consequence may logically refuse. However those who are otherwise susceptible and are refusing have the right and may be right or very wrong. However from personal and professional experience there is no way any given individual can know just how this disease will affect him or her. Also thus far while the variants in some cases seem to spread more easily and are more infectious, the current vaccines seem to be effective against them in most cases. A COVID 19 infection is no walk in the park for many.

I don’t believe it is a matter of vaccinating the public. There may be a widespread case of zinc deficiency in their diets that make the Argentinians so vulnerable, and the reluctance to use some very effective treatments that have been known to stop COVID-19 Wuhan virus dead in its tracks, including Hydroxyquinone with the zinc supplement.

Buying what?

That there is a raging pandemic in Argentina?

Here is the thing. It is fall down there. Heading to winter.

If this bug behaves like a typical corona, it should be getting worse.

Here in Iowa, we have a variant that is very nasty getting a toe hold.

For me (confirmed case) CV was so mild if it wasn’t in the news I would have worked through it.

Same for my wife.

But my neighbors? One is on oxygen, two were in the hospital, and one died.

Granted I live on the “Grandma block” in my town, but it is interesting.

I am still giving plasma, so no shot for me. But with two of those neighbors who had the shot, they had such serious reactions they were in the ER.

are refusing to take.

Waiting until the data is in to see if the vaccines are safe would be the proper way to phrase it. Jumping into a study that the results and dangers won’t be known for at least 24 months is, well for lack of a better word, stupid

We had a trip planned to Costa Rica in July, they are seeing an India-like spike in cases and the country is headed for a lockdown. Some places in Latin America which held their nose up at us last Summer for not handling the Covid correctly, are now getting hammered. The bottom line has always been, pandemics work this way...no stopping them, till they burn out or mutate. Lockdowns, social distancing, and electing geriatric dementia patients prevents nothing. Our country is so so soul-sick that people mostly, scientific materialist zombies, walk around in constant terror about everything real or imagined. No cure for that.

I have friend in South America.

It is getting interesting to say the least. One old colleague lives in the north of Argentina, and pretty isolated. They are OK now, but the plant is out in the middle of no where.

When they get sick, the nearest hospital is very far away.

Eventually we may know the genetic or enviormental reasons your case was relatively mild and your neighbors were so devastating. From personal and professional experience , had the grim duty of observing directly the suffering, debilitation, devastation and deaths this disease actually caused. Felt it an obligation to my family and self to get the vaccine. Had the Moderna, had nothing more than a sore arm. Of course have some concerns about the long term effects of the new mRNA technique. However reasoned that if infection had occurred there would be more viral mRNA and aftermath in my body than would ever get from a vaccine. Once again everyone has the right to make their own choice on this matter.
