Senators make horrible Presidential candidates.
In terms of a legit shot at winning, not really. Biden, Obama.
I don’t think the average voter cares about whether someone was a governor or senator.

And worse Presidents.
Only 3 elected (post 1916) Senators have been elected President. All 3 were disasters (I know JFK has his fans here).
That’s because the key skill set for becoming a US Senator is being a BS artist, and the key skill set for being President is administrative competence.
