They showed that internal waves are generated by the entire ridge system on that area of seafloor, and not a localized hotspot within the ridge.”
Can you imagine what would happen if an internal wave was passing over a sea ridge when there was an earth quake that causes a coincidence of the internal wave and say a drop of 9 feet of a tectonic plate simultaneously?
The resultant combined wave would doule o r triple the usual amplitude , and create a monster much higher on the surface than the largest waves we have measured which were 20 meter Tsunami waves, They could be more like 60 meter waves so tall that they would sweep away coastal features as if they were dust on the wind.
I have a whole new view of living on the coast, even living at 1000 feet above sea level might not be high enough to escape such a wave.Good thing I am not a pearl clutcher. The “sky is falling” crown have a lot more to worry about than “climate change.”
