My understanding is the electronics and codes get nullified after a few months if not renewed; guess he could somehow get the nuclear stuff out.

The problem with nukes is that they are easy to alter. The coding and firing mechanism may need replaced, but the person has the nuclear materials at hand.

My understanding is make a single mistake in disassembling them, and the explosives are set off, the fissile material fizzles, releases a huge flood of neutrons, and melts down to a blob of highly radioactive formerly fissile daughter elements.

They might get it right on the 5th or 20th try.

Or not...
