Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade are ready to change the world — but first, they've got to tackle potty training their spirited 2-year-old, Kaavia James.
"It's been a challenge," Union, 48, says with a laugh. "She's very strong-willed!"
And since the actress and NBA All-Star welcomed Kaavia via surrogate in 2018...
"My focus when it comes to any of my kids is to let them know who they are so that when other people's opinions about them are formed, it's not hitting them," says Wade, whose daughter Zaya, 13, is transgender. (The couple also have Zaire, 19, who along with Zaya are Wade's children from a previous marriage, Xavier, 7, Wade's son with an ex and Dahveon, 19, Wade's nephew.)
"If we allow our kids to be their true selves," he continues, "we don't have to worry about them conforming with anything or anyone. Why wouldn't we push our kids to be their authentic selves?"

They have a new book to tell you how to raise kids.
Spewriffic.
And the local Miami media, always eager to hype anything that diverts from normalcy, is hyping this as great advice.
— “My focus when it comes to any of my kids is to let them know who they are...,” says Wade, whose daughter Zaya, 13, is transgender. —
Fail.
Is there ANYTHING that sportsball heroes and actresses don’t know?
“...Xavier, 7, Wade’s son with an ex...”
Well, that is how it’s spelled.
Perhaps they're trying to say:
Also living with the couple are Zaire (a 19-year-old, who along with Zaya are Wade's children from a previous marriage), Xavier (Wade's 7-year-old son with another woman) and Dahveon (Wade's 19-year-old nephew).
That requires all kinds of punctuation and stuff.
Maybe the folks at People should learn to code.
They promote sexual ambiguity in their children. Same as another actress Megan Fox. Megan has three boys under the age of 10. She dresses them up either unisex or like girls whenever possible.
I see some confused and angry teenage boys in a few years.
Shouldn't it now be The Democratic Republic of the Congo?
Or dig ditches.
Is Step #1 - “Have more money than brains.” ?
The new “nuclear” family . . .
Curious as to why we rarely hear about the husband and wife who:
1. Were teenage sweethearts
2. Dated for a few years
3. Completed their educations (as they wanted to do)
4. Got married and stayed married their entire lives
5. Started having children when they were able to properly care for them
6. Never had run-ins with the law
7. Never cheated on each other
8. Respected all with whom they came in contact with
9. “Lived happily ever after”
You know, the real (normal and functional) “nuclear family” types . . .
I want to take advice how to raise kids from a couple who has kids from other marriages, one mentally ill boy and a child who was a surrogate? Mrs. Deplorable could write a book on raise America loving kids, but the feminazis would demand that it shouldn’t be published...
Perfect...just perfect.
If you want to hear about the family you described, look up Phillip Rivers, or watch Leave It To Beaver, or My Three Sons, or even Happy Days or Good Times or the Jeffersons, or even Sanford & Son.
Otherwise, it’s gone for the most part.
