My wife sent in our census form in California. I was up at our Idaho house and got a personal visit THREE times telling me I had to return it. Each time I told them we returned it in CA and each time they said they would enter the info so I wouldn’t be bothered again. But I got bothered two more times. The census takers were very nice people and understanding.
So, yes, they fix errors and do data validation while the census is going on. I doubt that it is ever re-opened after it is completed because that would start a massive avalanche of requests for recounts.
I’m doing a lot of genealogical research and really enjoy looking at the old census forms in the USA, Canada and England. There is so much rich data there about one’s ancestors. I like the forms that asked a lot of questions best.
Democrats wanted illegals to be counted in the 2020 census and since that they were and it changed the number of house seats they had, they want to ignore the results and keep their previous seats.

Seems reasonable. New York is losing residents every year so if its 89 short now, rest assured in a couple years it will be WELL more than that under the number needed to keep that house seat.
