PITTSBURGH — Planning to hit the road for your summer vacation?
Gas stations across the country could run out of gas this summer, but not because of a shortage of crude oil or gasoline.
It’s because of a driver shortage for tanker trucks, according to CNN.
According to the National Tank Truck Carriers, up to 25% of tank trucks are parked leading up to summer because of a lack of qualified drivers.

To some extent this is already happening. Within the past 30 days, on 3 occasions at 3 of my regular gas stations, I have arrived to find no gas. Two of these were in Southern California and one was in Northern California. This isn’t normal.
This is just Musk and his EV friends pushing a sale.

Sounds like the days of Carter gas lines, odd and even number gas days!! Boy the younger generation is in for a real treat they are used to having EVERYTHING at their finger tips!!

Younger drivers cannot pass drug tests.

People would bitch about gas price's to me...And I'd say,,,You have to get to work. Cost of getting to work.
Few years ago..I was paying $500-700 a month driving to work...Had to work. Just the cost of working. 150 miles round trip........

From a friend who’s a little more familiar with this area than I, on why there’s a tanker driver shortage:
1) drivers that were near retirement went ahead and retired because of the ‘rona
2) the federal gov did something to be able to better track drug issues and relate it to CDLs and a bunch of drivers lost their CDLs I don’t have numbers on this one.
3) face it, young kids don’t want to work

Driver shortage due to DOT drug testing. DOT and insurance companies do not want impaired drivers on the road.

Don't rely on small gas stops while driving cross country.
My Nav system said there were 2 gas stops passed the city I was passing through.
Except, they didn't know about COVID Summer and the fact the small stops were closed.
