An overwhelming percentage of black people believe local police departments are doing a good job, polling shows.
Seventy percent of African Americans said law enforcement officers are doing a “very good” or “somewhat good” job, according to a CBS News/YouGov poll released Sunday. Thirty percent of black adults polled responded that local police are doing a “somewhat/very bad” job.
Among white respondents, 82% reacted positively toward police departments’ work, while 18% said they were “somewhat/very bad” at the job they are doing.
Approval of the police was also high among Hispanic respondents, at 77%, with 22% disapproving of the job that local departments are doing.
All in, 79% of those polled approve of local departments, while 21% do not approve of the job they are doing.
The poll also found that 46% of Republicans don’t agree with former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin being found guilty in the killing of George Floyd, while only 10% of Democrats and 25% of independents disagreed with the verdict.
The responses come amid a rising anti-police climate across the nation after recent shootings of African Americans by police and high-profile public figures demanding that law enforcement officers be held accountable.
NBA star LeBron James sparked controversy after he posted a tweet last Wednesday of Ohio police officer Nicholas Reardon, who shot Ma’Khia Bryant after she charged at two people with a knife, with the caption, "YOU'RE NEXT #ACCOUNTABILITY."
James soon deleted the tweet amid an eruption of criticism for “inciting violence.”
The poll also comes after James and others have claimed that black people are "terrified" of the police.

I really don’t think we needed a poll to discover this. The real mystery is: What is the perceived benefit to the Democrats/Libtards from defunding the police?
Power and votes is their exchange currency. This looks like a loser to me. But apparently not to the Left.

What you saw was something like not even 1/2 of 1% of black people, that is not all black people, they don’t represent all black people and it is leftist racism that says that those hooligans speak for all black people, they don’t.
I just wish black people in general would start to let go of the democrat party, I can’t understand why so many cling on to that failed institution of dead slave owners and Jim Crow policy creators. I guess it is hard to let go of the democrat plantation.
But the only blacks who get any air time are those who support defunding or “reimagining” the police. Typical.
White Liberals think they have the right to dictate what blacks should think.
They don’t want to “get rid of the police”, they want to get rid of the old cops who want to enforce the laws based on the laws. They want to chase the old timers out and replace them with woke foot soldiers who will enforce the law based on feelings and racism and whatever leftist social construct of the week is.
That is why they are doing this.
One they get their foot soldiers in place, then the left will love the police because the police will arrest trump supporters and white people because they exist.
By driving out better trained, disciplined, experienced officers you can fill the ranks with yes men and women ready and willing to do anything required by the people paying their salaries.
That is until Deep State gets to its goal of federalizing all LE.
No more pesky local control and oversight.

I am missing it as well. I’ve never known ANYONE who thought defunding or even reduced funding the police was a good idea. I have been trying to figure any possible benefit to the left to pursue this misguided agenda but have yet to find it.
I’m old enough to remember black people complaining that the cops were TOO SLOW in reacting to their 9-11 emergency calls.
As crazy as you both sound I suspect you are both correct. They have a long term strategy to build their own version of the Gestapo. While I accept your analyses, I don’t think it will work.
But God forbid if it does.
And, unfortunately, the way the national narrative on law enforcement is going, they’re likely to soon have more reason than ever to complain.
You make a very good point. I have seen in many of the black lives matter protest in my area that majority of the participants, and sometimes even the people speaking, tended to be liberal white women, followed by white men and then a mix of blacks.
If no one has noticed it seems a lot of the BLM rallies are 50-75% stupid white liberals. Why is that? I don’t think BLM has the black community support that they would like you to think they have.
To bring in a federal police force. Then it’s game over.
I think that same 1/2 of 1% rigged the elections in Atlanta and Detroit.
The vote of the black man was robbed by the black man.
Blacks really did come out in the largest numbers ever for Trump.
Trump offered blacks the opportunity for prosperity.
The Democrats are having to beat blacks, now, back into gratitude for empty words.
