Before we go off the deep end here, I observed people wearing mask cutting grass before Covid. Should I mock them too?

If they can smell the cut grass with a mask on, it's mental masturbation.

So, yes.

I wear a mask when I clean out my outdoor shed and when I vacuum up the mouse crap in my garage, and I have for years.

Valid observation.

From my 50+ years of working with PPE and masks as an environmental health and safety professional I know that masks, if properly applied/sealed, worn and maintained, can be effective in reducing and even blocking large particles such as pollen, dust, automotive exhaust particulates and the like, but for particles that are orders of magnitude smaller such as viruses even a properly worn N95 mask is completely useless. That is, if you can breath through and/or around a mask -- that is, if air can get through the mask material or around an improperly sealed face mask -- then so can a very much smaller virus.

A mask is essentially a non-HEPA dry filter, and to filter out a virus you would need an effectively impervious mask material which would necessitate use of a connected air supply such as used in a viral research laboratory. Cheers!

you’d probably be better served by refraining from making lame attempts at snark...

I know a man who has COPD and was told by his doctor to do just that. It would be great to see what happens to any mouthy psychopath who ridicules him. Same in regards to a particular woman who's worn masks for full shifts for a year and forgot to take one off before driving home from work.

They're very polite, unless a blue state foreigner messes with them. ...a very hardened people, who have shot squirrels out of trees with pistols. ;)
