The Commie’s are busy making sure Dominion is programmed to reject a recall.

They may elect a quasi-conservative RINO to replace him, but the next election after that, they will elect another leftist.

I can’t stand the smug Gavin Newsome as much as the rest of you. However, I’m glad my state does not have this idea of a recall in their constitution or laws. I’m against it on philosophical grounds. It’s democracy at its worst that our founders warned us against. It gives the ability of the people to get swept away by their passions of the moment. We need to get back to more republican principles of government like our founders intended.
The Cali state constitution has a republican remedy for this. One, he’s elected every 4 years and you can throw him out after that. Two if while in office the governors actions are so egregious, the Congress has the powers of impeachment.

Hey, State recall is local government in action. It doesn’t happen very often except when someone is especially egregious. It’s great to see the right of the people exercised against outlaws in government.
What, you’re in favor of outlaw Governors but not in favor of the people recalling them? In that sense, state recall is like federal impeachment.

No, state impeachment is like federal impeachment. The state constitution of California has impeachment procedures in it just like the federal constitution.

A lot of those former union Dems now hate the Dems’ guts. Many of the rank and file members are Trumpers, as Biden/Dems have stabbed them in the back in so many ways. The union leaders are still in the pocket of the Dems, but not Average Joe Lunchbuckets. They’re for Trump.

If the Dems stole the presidential election with relative ease, this will be a breeze. Newsome will NOT be removed from office.

So you think the people legally deposing a dictator is “mob rule”?
That’s sad. You should re-read the Declaration of Independent that explains the people have every right to throw off tyranny after a long line of abuses of the type Newsome engaged.
The Declaration of Independence endorses overthrow against the law of the ruling tyrant but in keeping with Natural Law. Here the overthrow of Dictator Newsome is legal, so you’re pretty far off the track there, my FRiend.

You want to quote the declaration of Independence so I guess you are in favor of a revolution in Cali? That's not what's going on in Cali, it's a recall which is direct Democracy. I'll quote the Constitution instead, the legally binding compact between we citizens and our Federal Government.
"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government"
I'll quote our founders. As Madison wrote in Federalist 10
"The Framers designed the American constitutional system not as a direct democracy but as a representative republic, where enlightened delegates of the people would serve the public good. They also built into the Constitution a series of cooling mechanisms intended to inhibit the formulation of passionate factions, to ensure that reasonable majorities would prevail."
Impeachment = the cooling mechanism intended to inhibit the formulation of passionate factions (recall).
The Cali state constitution has impeachment in it. That is the republican answer to removing a dictator from office. Tell me, if recalls are such a great idea and follow the thinking that our founders intended, why didn't they put it in the Federal constitution? It's not as if the idea of a recall is new and was unknown to them.
As a practical matter, exactly who do you think will take Newsomes place in Cali? The next Ronald Reagan? The next Pete Wilson? C'mon, this will be a circus just like the Grey Davis recall. How did that Arnold governator work out for Cali?
To: Old Teufel Hunden
"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government." US Const., Art. IV, Sec. 4. (You should cite your constitutional quotes to authenticate them.)
Actually, the feds have the constitutional right to step in when the executive branch of a state government begins to exercise totalitarian powers. But that won't happen will it, because the mostly unconstitutional federal government is itself basically totalitarian.
Meanwhile, the people of CA via the CA legislature in CA's the republican form of government deemed recall an appropriate option and made it CA law. So in that sense, a republican form of government is at work in the recall process, as well as overthrow of Newsome's gubernatorial dictatorship.
Your argument confuses state and local government with national government. The national government was created by the States via the U.S. Constitution. The understanding then, as it should be now, is that States are local government whereby the people have much easier and direct access to government and can exercise their will in a more direct way than in the national or "federal" government. Hence, many states have options like Propositions, Initiatives, and Recall that give the people direct access if the representatives and their politics are not so inclined. Nothing unconstitutional about any of that. The US Constitution is pointed mainly at the federal government which it created
Your Madison quote pertains to the proposed (at the time of writing the Federalist and Anti-Federalist Papers) National Constitutional Government, not to local government. They knew the proposed national government was a much more dangerous undertaking than the creation of a state or local government.

Please point out where I said that a recall was unconstitutional? Nice try building a straw man argument and tearing that down. As usual in this posting you are completely missing my point. My whole argument has been it is not republican and we as a country need our federal and state governments to get back to more republican principles of government.
You have obviously not read federalist 10. While the federalist papers were a series of writing by three of the founders to convince the people to ratify the constitution federalist 10 is James Madison's writing specifically warning against direct democracy and in favor of republican principles of government.
It does not matter that the Cali government passed into law recalls. It does not make it a republican principle. The Cali government has done many things over the years that are unrepublican in nature as well as violating their citizens constitutionally recognized rights. They are not a model to be shown as an example of good governence.
To: Old Teufel Hunden
No need to get hostile there, OTH. Take a breather. It’s OK. We’re just kicking around ideas here.
As I said, IMO you’re confusing the understanding of local (state) government with the proposed national government at the time of the Federalist papers and the forming of Constitution. The Founders saw states as basically sovereign, only that they should have a republican form of government.
I have seen no evidence that the Founders were against local or state governments having means of direct public intervention in government. Certainly the Constitution does not forbid such.
I guess that means you’re against state Referendums, Initiatives, and Propositions as well. Well, you may have a good grasp of the original understanding, intent, and text of the Constitution, but I think you’re a bit off regarding local and state governance.

I didn't know Gary Sinise was even considering a run. He would have my vote! I would bet every Veteran in the state would vote for him.
