Florida by and large did avoid this insanity that has gripped cities elsewhere. Why? Because LE told them if they started breaking stuff the law would come down on them like a ton of bricks.

It is NOT the job of the sheriff to “connect with the community”. It is his job to enforce all Constitutional laws!

Nick Navarro was sheriff of Broward County in the late ‘80s, elected in ‘84 he served from ‘85-’93.
He wasn’t a bad guy, he put his name on everything BSO and used to burst out of phone booths in his cape and tights with the big “N” on his chest whenever a news crew with a camera even thought about rolling out,lol.

Someone’s right to peaceful assembly and protest does not include impeding my right to move about freely. Once they block traffic, it’s not longer a protest, it’s disorderly conduct. If they start beating on my car with fists or clubs, then they’re vandals. Once they start smashing the car windows, that’s assault. By that time I would feel my life is in danger. I will run you over.
Their sheriff, Gregory Tony—a democrat—was appointed by Gov. DiSantis in 2019 after the idiot before him, Scott Israel, was fired for his incompetence in handling of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas H.S. shooting in Parkland, FL. Sheriff Tony won the 2020 democrat primary against Israel and went on to be elected. He is currently under investigation for some lies by omission/comission, or some such. Crap like this never ends, does it?
