Mayor Eric Garcetti is planning to spend nearly $1 billion to combat homelessness in the coming budget year, tapping huge new sources of state and federal aid and finally ramping up construction of homes for the unhoused.
Garcetti’s spending proposal, which will be discussed during his State of the City address on Monday, reflects the growing pressure he and others at City Hall are under to make significant headway on a crisis that has left tens of thousands of people living in squalor in streets, parks and beaches. Cities across the U.S. are relying on a similar playbook, using COVID-19 recovery funds to attack a problem

Why folks who mock California's recklessness live in fantasy land.
With E V E R Y fail,they will easily get Fed money.
I may be ignorant, but, if we build all this new housing and move homeless in, how long util these places have all the problems of Section 8 housing projects? And does it really help people in the street to put them in hell holes like housing projects? Does it address the mental illness or other issues which caused them to live in the streets in the first place?
It won’t work. For starters no neighborhood wants any homeless housing units built in their areas. Second, the housing units cost a fortune, they couldn’t build enough of them. Third, even if they could figure out how and where to build enough units, they can’t force the homeless to move into them.
It was Garcetti’s father who made a deal with the black community. He moved the OJ trial from Santa Monica to downtown LA. There OJ got a jury of mostly black women. Those women did not have much sympathy for a blonde white woman who took a wealthy black man and did not convict the murderer. His son surprise, surprise is the current Mayor of LA and plays the same political games. The Garcetti family is the west coast equivalent of the Cuomos. The Garcetti and Cuomo families are giving Italian -Americans a bad name. They ought to get out of politics or at least change their names.
“spend” == reward libtard cronies and themselves, p1ss away the rest
Bus tickets to San Francisco shouldn’t cost a billion.
They have already tried much of this, and guess what - the problem got worse. So what do they do? Dump more money into it, of course.
California once rivaled most Western European countries in prosperity and quality of life under the American dream. Now it’s a sh*t hole and American nightmare all within 30 some years.
Wow! Imagine how many more homeless they can generate with a Billion+ dollars~! Just like their lockdowns lead to record COVID infections and deaths! Newsom really know how to cook!
House drug dealers in prisons and sanitariums for the lunatics.
So $1 billion to invite more of the country’s homeless to the West Coast.
Build it and they will come. It reminds me of this crazy lady who actually brought home rotten food out of grocery store dumpsters to give the rats so they wouldn’t eat her dog’s food. I had gotten a complaint about rats and odors coming from her house. I had to spray myself with bug spray before going inside because of all the fleas from all the rats. The smell was incredibly nauseating. There was just a little narrow trail from room to room. The rest was garbage and junk. So lets build little homes for the bums and just more will come. Let’s not actually solve the problem by putting the druggies in jail or rehab. The money should be going to help those who are mentally ill. Not let them live out on the street.

$999 million going to friends.
The rest spent on dinners.

Redistribution of income and wealth.
We can fix half of the homeless problem in 60 days easily.
First, we start rounding up and transporting ALL the Homeless to the LA Coliseum, we put All of them Inside and start classifying them. Every Friday at 5PM we have Every Police Agency in the County bring their seized fentenayl and other dangerous drugs and we HAND IT OUT in the Coliseum. In a month or two the numbers should be down far enough to make it manageable.
