I grew up in a place so lily white that we all had to pick on the “black Finns” aka Saami. It’s an inside joke that most of you wouldn’t get.

When I enlisted in the Army I was excited to meet people from different races and parts of the country.

My best buddy in boot camp was a Vietnamese dude from L.A. that had been in JROTC in High School.

Let’s just say my eyes were really opened in the Army regarding “African Americans”.
