The latest deal is “Assembled in the US from imported components” or something else like that, which really means “Made in China, with the little handle on the lid bolted on in San Francisco”, like the Calphalon saucepan I didn’t buy from Target last week.
Out here in the Soviet of Washington we have a brand of pharmacies called Rite Aid. It’s a type of shop that sells tons of other items besides drugs from booze to little knickknacks for your yard. Since the Scam-demic hit 3/4 of their shelving space has been as bare as a Venezuelan grocery store. I’m hoping folks wake up from this and we cut China down to size. I know, but we CAN still dream right?
There were about a dozen microwave models IIRC at the one I checked btw
The American consumer’s loud and clear answer has been not just “No” but “Hell, no!”
There isn’t going to be any domestic competition, anyway, except maybe in semiconductors. Companies are realizing the “loss” of Taiwan is a foregone conclusion and rushing to set up alternatives.
Distributed from the USA or something like that. Hard to find Made in China anymore.
