Where Have You Gone, Atticus Finch?

In the archives of legal fiction, two characters best embody historic liberal self-perception. One is attorney Atticus Finch of To Kill a Mockingbird fame. The other is Juror #8 in the 1957 film, 12 Angry Men. Today, each is an endangered species.

In his defense of Tom Robinson, a black man accused of rape in 1930s Alabama, Atticus ignored public opinion. He stared down the mobs intent on extra-legal justice and protected his ”mockingbird” as best he could. The unlikely mockingbird today is former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. As Chauvin learned quickly, if he did not know it beforehand, today’s vestigial liberals identify not with Atticus but with the mob.

Hell, as even Snopes had to concede Vice President Kamala Harris “encouraged her supporters to donate” to a nonprofit called the Minnesota Freedom Fund (MFF) that was bailing out members of the mob arrested for rioting after George Floyd’s death.

Chauvin’s crime, like Robinson’s, was being of a certain race in a society that increasingly sees justice only through the prism of race. Like the fictional Robinson, the real-life Chauvin represents one of a long and growing line of sacrificial lambs offered on the altar of racial “justice” to expiate the nation’s imagined sins.

Ever impatient, the mobs from the very same liberal metro could not wait for Chauvin’s official immolation to demand the sacrifice of a new lamb. This time, the mobs have shown no scruple about sating themselves on a female officer. To them, it mattered not a whit that veteran Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, officer Kim Potter clearly showed no racial malice in her accidental shooting of Duante Wright, a troubled archetype from a subculture slowly being crushed under the weight of rigidly enforced dishonesty.

Atticus Finch lost his case because of injustice. Just saying.

Two absolutely outstanding films. The simple fact of the matter is that Tom Robinson was clearly innocent. The kid may,or may not, have been innocent. But today the shoe is on the other foot...or to quote Dylan "the first one now will later be last".

Blacks were at one time,in at least some parts of the country, second class citizens. Today, whites are most assuredly second class citizens from coast to coast and border to border.

The several cops on trial...or soon to be on trial...don't have a chance in the courtroom and only have the very slimmest of chances in the Federal appeals courts.

I'll say this until the day I die...it's time for secession. The United States of America is now officially a failed experiment.

Pretty good defense (although inconsistant) put on in the Floyd trial. Much information revealed that was distorted or hidden by the media. And Keith Ellison is spending millions trying to get a conviction.

Yes,Tom Robinson was obviously innocent whereas Bob Euel was just as obviously guilty.I wonder what would have happened if Atticus was able to file that appeal. I assume he would have lost in the Alabama state courts...don’t know about the Federal courts.

Commentary on the absurdity that is the current iteration of (the bogus and fraudulent) "civil rights" movement is superfluous. Not even the "civil rightsers" (term coined by the astute deputy in the blatantly fictional "Mississippi Burning") care about civil rights.

They don't care about blak poverty. They don't care about blaks getting killed. They only care about how they can use it to get more stuff.

Like, the cofounder of BLM buying a million dollar home, etc. Whores and pimps, all.

And where have you gone, Eliot Ness?

(not entirely unrelated)

There never was an Atticus Finch. See the Duke Lacrosse Frame for reference.

“To Kill a Mockingbird” and “12 Angry Men” are two of my favorite movies of all time. Both brilliant masterpieces.

I can by pressing on the side of my neck say that pressing on the side of my neck won’t reduce my ability to breathe or kill me.

Since I don’t know the timeline, I can’t say that Chauvin did not prevent the medic from saving Floyd’s life.

Did the medic have Narcan, a breathing tube or a scapel in her hand? I don’t know the answer since I no longer make a substantial effort to watch the very annoying evening news.

Even if the medic had the skill to save Floyd’s life, she may not have had the self-control to do so.

if the movie was remade today in Minneapolis Scout would not have been able to stop the Democratic lynch mob.

As for the Wright case, what model Taser and what model handgun did Officer Potter have?

I suspect the Taser would weigh far less than the handgun.

Is a Taser always ready for use or does it have to charge a capacitor first?

If Potter was in a tussle with Wright, the tussle may have mentally disoriented her.

Note: I hate to not knowing things, but the news media has become very annoying to me.

Where Have You Gone, Atticus Finch?”

I’ve heard the same thing asked about Joe DiMaggio.

Of course it is. Considering that a huge percentage of Americans agree with the claims of the 1619 Project...that this country has always been a despicably unjust and corrupt nation and that it is completely beyond repair it stands to reason that those who see themselves as victims will attempt to punish the middle class and the working class...those of us who have had reasonably comfortable lives.

“1619 Project”

My Irish ancestors probably would not have seen a slave except in Civil War Union Army service.

My mother’s parents arrived in the US around 1900.

“it’s time for secession”

A mere twenty-nine months ago Republicans could have created independent republics by majority votes in Congress.

At this point, the only way to national salvation is to have Biden declared by the Supreme Court declared a rebel under Amendment XIV, Section 3 for his anti-Amendment II stances and anti-Amendment IV(”secure” gun possession) Brady bill vote and hence ineligible to be President.
