Russian President Vladimir Putin took advantage of the Biden administration’s decision to abandon plans to send two destroyers to the Black Sea by closing off the Kerch Strait, connecting Crimea to Russia, to foreign warships until next fall.
The action comes as Russia warned the US on Tuesday to stay away from the area “for their own good” after the Biden administration said it was going to send two destroyers – the USS Roosevelt and the USS Donald Cook – to the Black Sea in response to Moscow’s increasing its military presence near Ukraine.
Putin will close the Kerch Strait beginning next week until October, blocking foreign warships that are conducting military exercises, including the US, the Ukraine foreign ministry said Thursday.

They need to get to 90% for a bomb. They can’t do that in weeks or months.
If Russia invades it will be only capture all the land up to the Dnieper river (cuts the Ukraine in two). Blocking the Kerch Strait effectively blocks all sea access to invasion goals side.
Smart move on Putin’s part. If he stops at the rivers edge he also has control of the country’s water supply and the land he really wants.
I’m pretty sure it blocks Ukraine ports from access.

No surprise. Biden is inviting a crisis that he is incapable of managing. And Putin knows it.

If they had a referendum in that part of Ukraine, I wonder what percentage would vote to be part of Russia? I believe, some sections are primarily Russian. It is easier to take over and hold territory if the population is behind you. That works both ways.

I think it is a coin toss twice. Half of the experts don’t think he is going to invade, that this is just bluster. The second coin toss is where he will stop if he does. I seen it predicted both ways, with it slightly leaning towards stopping at the river’s edge.
That will chase the Russians away.

Trump had the the country on secure footing. The Deep State couldn’t stand four years of peace and stability so they ousted him.
We know who is to blame for the mess that is sure to come but its little consolation now.
I think Putin will cross the Dnieper to take Kherson. Don’t think Russia wants to fight Ukraine with a river at their backs except for Kherson.
