Former President Donald Trump issued a statement on Wednesday celebrating the possibility that Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) may not run for reelection.
Trump vowed to work on defeating Murkowski in the Republican primary in 2022 and the Alaska senator voted in favor of convicting him during the second impeachment trial.
“Great news for the Republican Party! Senator Lisa Murkowski said she is ‘still weighing whether she will run again’ for the Senate in Alaska. In other words, there is a chance that she won’t run! Wouldn’t that be great?” Trump said in a statement issued via his Save America political action committee.
“And so many people are looking to run against Crazy Liz Cheney—but we only want one. She is so far down in Wyoming polls that the only way she can win is numerous candidates running against her and splitting the vote. Hopefully, that won’t happen. I’ll make an Endorsement soon!”
Murkowski filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Elections Commission on March 9.
Two other Republicans have announced their intention to challenge Murkowski: Kelly Tshibaka, the former commissioner of the state’s Department of Administration, and Bob Lochner, a mechanic who ran for the U.S. Senate in 2016. Tshibaka has hired a campaign team composed of several Trump-campaign alumni: Bill Stepien, Justin Clark, Nick Trainer, and Tim Murtaugh.

Stir the pot? No. More likely a disturber of the excrement.
It’s probably pretty easy to smuggle a boat full of cash from China or Russia into Alaska. Just saying...
Its amazing that one party can elect so many odious contrarians within its ranks.
Their private focus group results of real independents must be devastating news to her financial backers.
DJT takin’ out the trash the GOPe wouldn’t.
Gittin’ it done.
Best to keep that twist off cap on the sparkling cider, Mr. Trump.
Don’t gloat just yet. She hasn’t gone anywhere.
We will probably just get someone worse
Is Sarah Palin retired from politics??
It is forbidden to calculate the total sum of barnyard fowls previous to their incubation.
Maybe she can find something constructive to do, she’s been nothing but destructive for the Republican Party, what a loser.
wait. really? Both parties do, the Democrats just realize it’s more important to have the numbers and don’t eat their own. Of course, Democrats march in lockstep.
Does Alaska use Dominion machines?
The problem in Alaska is that they have succumbed to the allure of ‘ranked choice vote tabulation’. That means that all voters mark their preference for all the candidates on the ballot from first to last. If there is no candidate that gets over 50% of the vote, the candidate that gets the least number of votes is disqualified but here is the rub. Those votes are recounted and the votes for the remaining candidates are added to the top tier candidate’s vote count. So it is possible, unlikely but possible to not win the contest based upon the initial counting but be declared the winner after the second and tertiary counts are completed.
If there is a way to rank one’s votes so as to guarantee that the incumbent is NOT elected, I am not sure what that would be. Not ranking Murkowski on your vote is not helpful because if it comes down to the second (or third) counting and your ballot does not have a rank for the incumbent, that ballot is not tabulated. Ranking the incumbent last may be the way the throw them out but I am not sure. It is a bit complex.
Who are the Romney’s, Murkowski’s, McConnells, etc. in the Democrat Party? The GOP has more than its share of liars and backstabbers who go against the grain.
Agreed. Alaska will elect a RINO who votes with the democrats 99% of the time but still insists to be about the Republican party platform.
