Donald Trump and Andrew Jackson: History Repeats Itself
American Thinker.com ^ | April 15, 2021 | Andrew W. Coy

If the Progressives (socialists, globalists, Deep State) were hoping President Trump would go quietly into that dark night, they are sadly mistaken. If the Progressives were praying that Trump would cower in obscurity after November of 2020, their prayers have not been answered. If the Progressives were dreaming that Trump and the Trumpsters would never be heard from again, their dreams have become a nightmare.

Rather than looking like John Adams or Jimmy Carter or Bush 41, Trump is showing a remarkable resemblance to President Andrew Jackson. The political histories are remarkably similar. As we approach the first 100 days since Biden was suspiciously placed into office, President Trump and the MAGA nation have done anything but concede, anything but beg for forgiveness, and anything but accept the fraudulent results of the 2020 presidential election. As Trump might quote Andy Jackson, these first 100 days with Biden resemble another "corrupt bargain," and he's not going to stand for it. It appears that patriots are not going to stand for it, either.

Trump has summoned politicians, donors, Trumpsters, MAGA nation, and potential rivals to Mar-a-Lago to map out the political future. Trump is endorsing governors, congressmen, senators, attorneys general, and secretaries of state. Trump appears to be all in for the off-year elections of 2022 and the presidential election of 2024, and he wants to make sure he controls as many of the chess pieces as possible.

While I understand why tards and such keep using the adage of ‘history repeats itself,’ there are only commonalities, coincidences, similarities and patterns. History...does...not....repeat itself. Places, names, circumstances, etc., are always different.

“Places, names, circumstances, etc., are always different.”

Those are details. In general, history always repeats itself, since people are always the same.

Of course, details are always different, but...patterns do repeat and that is a certainty.

It is good to keep in mind that that adage really only useful if applied by those who observe and are receptive to the lessons of history.

American Leftists in the Democrat Party, media, and entertainment not only do not observe and are not receptive to the lessons of history, they actively seek to eradicate history when it doesn’t suit their ideological purposes, and do so in much the same fashion as their ideological soul mates in the Taliban, Soviet Union, and Communist China.

All Leftists view history as an impediment. (as they should for their ideology)

That is why Communism and Socialism unfailingly crash and burn, and are always resurrected by a new host of idiot Leftist totalitarians...because they REFUSE to look at the patterns of history, and think THEY will “do it right this time”.

They either fully understand it won’t work and use it as a naked power grab, or are too stupid to understand that Communism and Socialism are perpetual motion machines that are fundamentally flawed and will never work unless “working” is defined as tyranny or personal enrichment for those in power.

"...In general, history always repeats itself, since people are always the same..."

This is a key differentiating factor between Leftists and Conservatives.

Conservatives believe that there is such a thing as human nature, and that evil is part of our nature and must be guarded against.

Leftists (at least the starry-eyed ones who aren't on a naked power grab) believe that people are perfectable and would be "good" if they weren't corrupted and made evil by society and circumstances.

Hence, the genius of the US Constitution which recognizes human nature and attempts to defend against the evil in it.

And it also explains why Leftists hate the US Constitution, view it as an impediment, and wish to destroy it. If only they were allowed to crush people into those boxes of "good" they have laid out, everything would be peachy, because THEY know what is right for "us".

It explains why they love everything from murdering tyrants like Stalin and Mao to masks and quarantines.

For all his faults (including lots of bad hires) Trump kept his promises to the American people. True to the USA.
So glad to see him continuing in the struggle.

And, oh yeah!! Have you seen how the weaselly weasel Obama has started to stick his head out of his hole? Now he feels it is safe to mouth off about all kinds of things that are not true/correct. What a disgusting excuse for an elected representative he is.
I am still embarrassed that Obama was elected; only bright side is that we did not get Romney or McStain.

If Trump is re-elected in 2024, the Deep State will declare that they have found evidence that Trump was actually re-elected in 2020, and therefore ineligible to serve what would be his third term.

The 13 judges on the Supreme Court will decline to accept the case.

Yet another ignorant and false comparison of Andrew Jackson to Trump.

Trumpism is a close throwback to the Whig Party, whose platform was based on nativism, tariffs, Anti-Masonism (against anti-Catholicism), rule of law, anti-slavery, “Manifest Destiny”, the “American System” of economic growth by “internal improvement” (infrastructure), establishment of public and private schools, modernization of agriculture (and industry), opposed Andrew Jackson’s “spoils system”, and promoted business as the business of America.

But Jackson was a slaver, an Indian genocider, a lawyer, a military leader, always poor, although a Populist.

The Whigs in Congress once passed a motion to denounce Jackson’s arrogant use of executive power. The Whigs came into power as a reaction against Jackson’s arrogant rule.

Trump’s policies are most assuredly not Jacksonian in that Trump is not for importing more cheap labor (immigration reform and a wall) which is the modern equivalent of slavery. Trump is for renewal of inner cities, is not anti-Catholic, is a businessman not a lawyer and military leader like Jackson, is not anti-tariff and is opposed to politically correct modern spoils system.

Trump wants to rebuild a muscular military and a sort of “manifest destiny” (small case) but without all the foreign interventionism.

Many on both the Right and the Left make false comparisons of Trump and Jackson that have no basis in history. Trump has a physical resemblance to Jackson, that is about it.

I never realized that Jackson won the first election and was cheated out of it by the swamp critters.

God and the American people were watching, then and now.

Trump on the $100.00 Dollar Bill.

“No, we are going to have to agree to disagree. History does not repeat itself, period.”

You must not have read much history. Our Founding Fathers were concerned about guarding against the repetition of history — the people would lose their liberty. Is that occurring?

Gibbons outlined the causes of the decline and fall of the Roman empire. Those dynamics he listed are operative today in the United States, with the exact same results.

Jackson stood for limited government, the Whigs stood for big government, and a national bank. They were Hamiltonians.

Oh, please. The resemblance is FAR more than "physical". The personalities and methods of action of the two are virtually twins. True, the policies pursued were vastly different, but both were totally convinced that their actions were the best for the nation.
