I don’t support her in anyway, but if she has any survival instinct she’d flee the country like Chauvin should’ve. Either way their lives are over in the USA.
No shocker here. There’ll be more sacrifices as we move forward. On the other hand, how someone with 20+ years on the force can’t distinguish a pistol from a stun gun is beyond me.
“Potter will be represented by attorney Earl Gray.”
Better than Jack Daniels, but still...
She screwed up big time, but doesn’t deserve to be sent to prison. Daunte brought this on himself.
Fleeing, armed perp with a record, and a warrant for his arrest
Vs. mistake using gun instead of taser.
In America, the rules state a tie always goes to the black guy.

I think the prosecution has a good chance with this charge.
What she did was akin to accidentally running down and killing someone with your car. I feel bad for her, but mistakes that result in someone else’s death usually carry consequences, even if it was an accident.
Is fleeing an officer at a stop still illegal? Or just if the officer’s limit is speaking in a harsh voice to come back?
Also, note the BS yesterday about “we are fully looking into all the details and are not rushing to make any statements or decisions about possible charges”(or words to that effect).
Then “Egads. Did you hear the screaming of that angry mob out there? We’d better offer the cop as a human sacrifice or the station gets burned down with us in it.”
As I said previously in other cases:
Mob leader in 1880s Old West: “You get that varmint in that courtroom in there convicted or we’re going to bust down the doors and take him out and hang him ourselves.”
2021: Now BLM, Antifa and Dems saying it about an accused officer. Considered trendy now.
Result: more people shot by cops.
Given the consequences for such a mistake, fewer will use a taser - leading to more situations getting lethally out of hand, requiring a decidedly lethal response.
What do you suggest she be charged with?
What she did was manslaughter.
Yes it was a mistake, but she shot and killed someone.
I hate to see a cop go to jail for doing their job, but in this case, that was a major mistake. She deserves a little time, though based on the fact that the victim was scum, I would go with probation.
Unless you’ve ever been involved in a tense and threatening traffic stop as a law enforcement officer you’ll never know how quickly things happen, how fast a decision has to be made, and how a reaction can be flawed through fear and excitement.
She screwed up, he did too. But he died and can’t come to justice for fleeing at this point. She screwed up, so this ties up the loose ends.
Also, tasers are not guns. I’m completely perplexed about how this Cop couldn’t tell which weapon they were drawing. Was there no mandatory fire testing for her taser?
Wright used a firearm to commit a crime.
I think she knew that and was influenced by that.
There are many places to stash a pistol in a car.
Was he going for a pistol in the car?
It’s a life or death question.
You have one second to decide.
if I were her, I’d make a quick plea deal...she knew she screwed up....serve two yrs and leave the state, pension in hand....
That said, the cop who really failed is the male officer who didn't take the perp to the back of the car, didn't spread-eagle him, and didn't have enough of a hold on him. The perp needed to have his leg swept and his face planted into the rear quarter panel while chicken-winged.
And we still don’t know who murdered Ashli Babbitt.
We the people are told a lack of knowledge of the law is no defense. Nor is effing up on which weapon a cop uses. She screwed up, resulting in a death and she’ll pay for it with her freedom for a few years. At least the prosecutor didn’t overcharge this time around.
That is what I call a DA running scared. If the victim was white, this would be a civil suit for negligence and no criminal charge. With a white victim, the officer’s competence is in question, not her criminality. With a black victim, the race industry and identity politics comes into play to steer her mistake into the criminal realm.
Helluva price to pay for being stylish.
