Almost always. HR and marketing is full of women and homosexuals that are ultra-anti-white-male. IT/Marketing in particular always hate each other. The marketing people always overpromise and expect IT to bail them out.
Starting your own business is fine...unless you simply do NOT have the business acumen to start, run, and maintain a business.

I’d google your real name (Or duckduckgo, a bit better) maybe to see what shows up. It takes some time for search results to roll off the list. Any HR person, legal or not, is very likely to do that and filter on that before they do a full background check that costs anything.
We are full diversity. In some jobs I have fit in well and others not so much.
