I’m sure it’s a very lovely town with great people... but maybe they should consider changing the city’s name.

The truth: positive tests are rising, and people don’t care because they’ve learned that the risk of serious illness is small.

“These communities are literally on fire,” said Dr. Mark Hamed, public medical director for Lapeer, Huron, Sanilac and Tuscola counties.

It's obvious Dr. Hamed didn't get his doctorate in English.

“Skepticism” about masks? You mean the actual science around them? Everyone wearing one lessens they transmission rate by .7 to 1.5 percent. That’s it.. that’s the actual science.

Realizing masks do nothing isn’t skepticism it’s fact.

The author of the article is a liar and pushes debunked positions like they were universal truths.

Dr. Hamed literally does not know what literally means.

Pure propaganda. If it weren’t in Michigan, I’d consider moving there. But I would not want to live in a state that elected a lunatic like that female they call governor.

As long as the new positive cases are treatable, it is a good thing to have high numbers for that means there are more people carrying the anti-bodies. The sum total of those vaccinated and those with the anti-bodies from positive testing should make for herd immunity. But then, I am neither a scientist not media personality, what do I know!!!

The region also has an eye-popping 32% positivity rate as a seven-day on coronavirus diagnostic tests, more than six times the level considered safe.

There is a "safe" level of COVID-19 now?

Many of Michigan’s Thumb residents are done with COVID-19 pandemic, even as virus rages like ‘wildfire’ Dumpster Fire

Hey Gretchen, maybe this time don't intentionally infect the elderly. Then it will remain manageable.

“Current trends upend the idea that communities simply need strategies to protect the elderly and those with serious health conditions, Hamed said. “’The fact is, we’re seeing a lot of otherwise healthy people get very sick. So it’s no longer just about protecting the vulnerable.’”

Wrong, that is still the best strategy for saving lives.

Well, they are in the vanguard of communities achieving herd immunity. Note that they talk about “positivity rates” at an outcome measure of diagnostic test results and not about those who are actually symptomatic. I’m assuming many families in this patriotic area have gotten their aged and infirm immunity by vaccination. The young (including “kinda young”) and healthy are rarely seriously affected by COVID-19 beyond obtaining actual immunity.

A big concern is that COVID-19 variants seem to be spreading infection more rapidly and causing more serious illness.

Congratulations to the government nitwits who mandated the lockdowns. You succeeded in killing off the less virulent form of Covid so the more virulent could survive. Now instead of people being infected with a mild strain, they can be infected with strains that are more capable of evading lockdowns. For an analogy, think overprescription of antibiotics.

He sees Gov. Gretchen Whitmer as “extremely power hungry” who is just using the pandemic as an excuse to be an authoritative leader.

She is not authoritative except on how to be authoritarian.
