He was afraid to assume the “George Floyd” position flat on the ground.

Can’t blame him.

They told him a hundred times to get out and he refused. You need to be a little more clear on your cop hatred.

The beginning of the tape has the officer turn on the siren twice for extended periods so it seems that the fellow was assumed to be fleeing.

People make the assumption that the guy wanted a bright place with witnesses, but a slow drive with hands waving the police to the gas station where he was stopped would be enough.

This driver was uncooperative and he physically resisted arrest. He deliberately caused a confrontation and then escalated it. It looks to me like he intended to provoke a reaction that he could then sue over and hopefully cash in, which is what he is now doing.

I don't understand how you could believe this.   He is a military officer and deserves every courtesy and deference to his position.

"What are you a specialist, corporal, what are you?"
That says everything about the policeman's mentality or lack of.   The problem appears to be that policemen nowadays assume every person they see is a criminal until proven innocent.

How this should have played out is the policeman, in the lights of the service station, should have clearly seen the tag applied for signs in the window, and apologized to the lieutenant for pulling him over.

This Keystone Cop clown acts like Elmer Fudd hunting rabbits.

Hate cops much? Try doing what they say and being on your way. It’s amazing how well that works.

If he had exited the vehicle when asked and shown his credentials as requested he would have been on his way in 5 minutes.

I think you are correct.

I doubt 1 person in 50,000 knows the meaning of that expression. I’m almost 80 yrs old and ex military who served in Texas and I never heard it.

If you've ever seen the movie 'Green Mile' with Tom Hanks, Michael Clark Duncan and James Cromwell, that line is said in the movie. That said, I'm a 35 year old schmuck born in Brooklyn and I know what it means.

I thought he was asking so he could address the man by his rank. That’s a sign of respect.

Granted newly minted junior officers don’t get much, but how much “free” stuff do they get for being in the military? By free, I mean housing, medical paid for. Maybe he also has an investment account that he can freely draw from. Maybe he’s married with no children and his spouse earns good money. Maybe he’s buying it as a family vehicle. The military also gets discounts on vehicles, right?

“Riding the lightning” has been a term used for getting tazed for quite some time now. And yes, we know the origin of the term.

If you don’t believe, check it out.

Hahah! Yeah, a cop wants to just show respect, and maybe even love (sniff) after holding them at gunpoint and threatening to kill them.

Tell Daniel Shaver's family he shouldn't have tried pulling up his underwear while he was weeping while crawling towards an "officer." Daniel Shaver is dead while Philip Brailsford is a free man, possibly working for another department in another state.

I don’t know what the Army officer did BEFORE the video started at the gas pumps to provoke the cops but they obviously were provoked at the start of the video. But, what I saw on the video convinces me that the Army officer, by refusing to obey the cops to get out of his car, provoked the incident.

I do question use of pepper spray. Given what’s going on in the country, and assuming the cops do watch the news, a little more patience would have probably been better than the use of pepper spray.

You're fixing to ride the lightning get tazed.

A NON-lethal alternative to getting shot.

Then even worse as it’s a conflicting sign if you’re pointing a Glock like that and talking about tasers. No dice.

They’re probably saying that as a way of getting off, using a less-than-lethal means (which is still lethal for people with epilepsy and heart conditions) while still using a saying that has its history rooted in execution by the electric chair.
