no license plate on vehicle. Failure to stop for “100 seconds”

Tell me, what is the legal number of seconds people have to pull over and come to a complete stop once they recognize they're being pulled over?

Lighten up, Francis.   In your State police career, how many citizens did you hold at gunpoint for buying a new vehicle and putting a "tag applied for sign" in the back window as the law requires?

People, even policemen used to have a little "mother wit" but that appears to be passé nowadays.

I NEVER held ANY citizen at gunpoint for an mere equipment or license tag traffic law violation. I DID hold some of them at gunpoint for actions that would cause a reasonable belief that I or another could be in imminent peril of death or serious bodily harm from their actions after a traffic stop was made.

Lest you doubt me, behold this video of the last moments of life for a New Mexico state trooper who pulled over a drug dealing convicted felon for a window tint violation.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pi2KunUcDSY

Unfortunately this fine officer DID lighten up, to his family’s everlasting grief.

You need to look at what happened to this lieutenant again.   These bumbling policemen had no cause to do this.   Did you catch the adrenalin jacked patrolman say "you are under arrest" and then change it to "you are being detained?"

By the way, I suggested that you lighten up, not that the policemen should lighten up.   The incompetent policemen should be fired and prosecuted.

I am not saying that the police officers may not have been overbearing and utterly inappropriate as they gave conflicting orders. No matter, at the moment of confrontation, it was incumbent upon an army officer, who should understand the meaning of a lawful, if stupid order, to comply with them as best he can, and sort out any wrongdoing afterward by lodging a formal complaint. His status as a commissioned officer should carry a bit of weight.

Were I his CO, I would have called him on the carpet with a reprimand, or other sanction for not comporting himself in a manner expected of a commissioned officer.

His behavior was just about as silly as any of the police officers, PARTICULARLY when he told them that he did not have to get out of the car for a traffic violation when ordered. They call them “jailhouse lawyers” for a reason.

You just KNOW that the Democ-RAT bastid governor Klan Man hood Northam will demagogue the hell out of this incident for to exploit racial tensions for his perceived political gain.

not suggesting a pursuit at all. I don’t know of cops think ‘100 seconds’ is a long time or a short time at this speed or that. Doesn’t seem like a long time to me. It’d take me at least a minute to figure out the cop wanted ME to pull over !

I’m not going to watch the video. I want to ask the right questions.

Why did the officers want to pull this man over?
Was it because of a License plate issue?

When you buy a “used car”, you are supposed to get a temporary tag to put in the holder or tape to the window. Did this happen or not? The salesman will tell us what happened.

I’ve seen all kinds of “temporary” tags in No. Virginia in the past few weeks.

I’ve also seen NO enforcement of “one-eyed monsters”, i.e. cars with only one main front headlight. Some had only one brake light or one tail-light. Marxist/Soros bought DA/CAs are telling the police NOT to enforce these safety laws or even to do a friendly stop to tell them what light is out.

Some Virginia police are assholes and should not be on the force. Believe me, I’ve sent several through Internal Affairs (it’s great when your teacher in Police Science is an Asst Chief of Police where you live and take their jobs seriously).

I’ve seen my local police (with one exception, totally screw up by refusing to act, a potential mass murderer/drug dealer and mentally ill person despite us having his death threats against at least 5 people in my family (only one of whom knew who he was) on tape. The police refused to take the tape for further investigation.

Also they lost my gun for 3 months (for “testing”). I had to go to the FBI (a couple blocks from my DOJ office) for help on a multistate level and another county’s Police because he had been involved in criminal activities there, including drug dealing.

I’ve also had a Va. State Trooper try to threaten to ticket/arrest me/my young kids, for looking at rocks scattered at a roadside pull-off place. I think he went to jail for beating his wife a few years letter.

DC cops were largely useless. Even my friends on the force there said so, including one in-law. My son was a federal police officer in DC and didn’t trust most DC cops either.

There are bad cops, stupid cops, and lazy/incompetent cops. Unfortunately these bad ones create a horrible operating atmosphere for the decent ones, esp. when the Left is on an all-out war against The Thin Blue Line.

At least the FBI agents I worked with over the decades were real professionals and very effective. I was also on an Organized Crime Task Force where I saw the work that many fine law enforcement people from all over the US, often at great risk to themselves.

We need to clean out the bad cops and support the good ones.

Just heard on the radio that one of the two cops involved in this Virginia soldier stopped has just been fired.

Where there’s heat, they should have fire.

We need to stay up on this story but make sure about the “statements” we make in our comments are as accurate as we can be sure of.

Looks like they fired him. Happened in December, but as usual with bad cops it takes until video catches them in the act.

Ok, how do you justify this?

“”I’m honestly afraid to get out,” Nazario is heard telling the officers after they’ve approached the vehicle with weapons drawn and order him to exit the vehicle.

“Yeah,” Gutierrez says, “you should be.””

That’s Agg assault with a deadly weapon. They fired him finally, but hopefully he’ll at least get some probation over it too.

I will NEVER justify any poor tactical or communication obligations of an officer to a citizen. I have and will now acknowledge violations of protocol by the coppers.

What I am trying to highlight is the poor decision making by all parties involved, particularly the army officer who should have known better then to jailhouse lawyer with an overly aggressive cop as he issued his distorted commands. Again, he is an OFFICER who should understand the necessity of obeying lawful orders. I do not believe that he would have been sprayed had he just gotten out of the car when told to do so.

Given the current public antipathy toward police in general and the greater than usual political cowardice of their leadership, I fully expect that these officers will be thrown under the bus and that bus will be backed up and they will be run over again.

Poor? POOR?! You shouldn’t say ‘you better be worried’ or ‘fixin to ride the lightening’ in ANY situation. I don’t care if they’re in a hostage situation or fleeing from the cops after a bank robbery.

That’s just pissed off, criminal behavior and he should have a mark on him (felony conviction) so he can’t have guns again.

To think you’re claiming to be a cop and making excuses for this scares the hell out of me.

If you think that an officer making wiser cracks while deploying his firearm to effect an arrest constitutes aggravated battery, then perhaps it is YOU who should investigate the elements of that offense in the state of VA AND the statutes governing use of force by a peace officer in that state. I am certain that their conduct, while it may merit firing because of a violation of police regulations does NOT constitute a criminal action subject to legal prosecution.

Please reserve your outrage for the perpetrators of this incident, and not me for expressing my opinion about it. I can assure you that any use of force in my successful career was legally and morally justified. I also know how a good army officer is supposed to comport himself in public too, and this man did not in this instance.

Alright fine. So it should be legal for cops (and then I assume anyone) to point a gun at them and say something like ‘Yeah, you better be worried. jk!’

Again, I don’t care if the victim driver here was slow or talking back. You don’t just go off and point a gun and start joking (didn’t sound like a joke at all to me) that they’re going to kill them.

Again, you sound like a very sick and evil person. This is agg assault with a deadly weapon, a felony 2 where I’m from and he deserves to be prosecuted. This is one of the worst bad cop cases I’ve seen outside of when they just shoot first. This time they only pepper sprayed, so I guess he was lucky eh?

I am a 3 war combat vet, Vietnam as a mech infantry squad leader in one unit, and a tank commander with another. I served in the first Gulf War in the Illinois National Guard in the first Gulf War, and as a platoon Sgt. and Operations section Sgt. in the HQ of a Military Police Bn in Operation Iraqi Freedom. My sympathies generally lie first with active duty service personnel, because I think that they have the most vital job in the Federal government.

You clearly do not accept a rational disagreement and have resorted to demonization and infantile name calling like a spoiled ass antifa brat. OK then. I stand by my statements whether you like it or not.

You have adopted the tactics of a Progressive Alinskyite leftist if you ain’t one already. Your complaint is with these police and those like them. MINE is with thought police like YOU!!!

I did not “whine” at you. I responded to your dumb ass characterization of me as “sick and evil.” while knowing nothing of me other then my postings. If you would get a little perspective, and basic civility, or maturity, then you would understand the difference and the response to your unnecessary insult.

If we were face to face I might just challenge you to a duel in the gym with a referee.

What if I was just to call you a dumb ass jerk out of the blue???
