I watched the video and the army guy did everything right. These fat cops give LEO a bad rap and it was very bad what they did to this guy. The army guy couldn’t have been more compliant . I could see him being afraid to lower his hands to unbuckle or unlock his door. Crazy

He was compliant with he law.

He kept driving after the police tried to stop him.

They told him to get out of the car. That’s what I would have done. Never would have been an issue with me.

I know of at least one officer who routinely approached traffic stops gun in hand. When dismissed from one department soon hired by another. Had a long career.

I heartily applaud my local officers who dealt with several highly dangerous situations without feeling the need to fill the air and person with bullets.

Killing takes only a second; and a lifetime of regret won’t undo the act.

I didn't see that video. Could you link me to it?

How many of them regret the actual outcome, and not regret getting caught?

And contrary to what the NBC story claimed there was NO And contrary to what the NBC story claimed there was NO temp plate visible on the rear window. visible on the rear window.

In several states there is no requirement for a temporary plate visible on the rear window.   A piece of cardboard with the statement Tag Applied For and the number of the request is all that is needed.   That is what you need to look for in this case.   that is what the lieutenant had.   You should note that he was not charged for not having a license tag.

From the article:

“Nazario, who is Black and Latino, conceded in his complaint that he didn’t immediately pull over. He instead put on his emergency lights and continued for another 100 seconds, driving under the speed limit, so he could safely park in a well-lit gas station parking lot less than a mile down the road.”

Yeah. That’s his side. He didn’t make much effort to show he was wanting to comply.

Police are under a great deal of stress and we’ve got some that want to push them to the limits. Here’s an example posted just a little while ago:

They were edited and posted to a website by the media. The Rodney King tapes were “produced” by the media in the same kind of way.

You do understand this is not uncommon and often the cops appreciate the driver pulling off the highway to a safer location. If I'm not mistaken, more cops die in traffic collisions and being hit by vehicles, than by gunfire. —

How many times are (some) suckers on this site gonna fall for the initial media account of some police atrocity involving some poor innocent black folk?

I don't think the videos here which appear to depict the incident well, were produced by the media.

They were edited by the media.

OK, so where is the full uncut video? Based on your statements, I would assume you have seen it.

I do understand. I’ve been pulled over plenty of times.

He said 100 seconds. I wonder how much longer. It doesn’t take almost 2 minutes.

I just disagree with bashing the police before gathering all the facts.

I don’t think cops are allowed to execute drunk drivers.

It seems they had dash cams. Where is the video of this short pursuit? I’ve looked, but I’m not seeing it.

Beats me, but poorly coördinated beat cop partners are well known to give conflicting orders at gunpoint to unarmed people.

Perhaps some day, you or I may have a chance to ask the pair that very question. Although that might count in the minds of one or more of them insisting we are dissing them or resisting arrest.

Or maybe the cop that said "Hands up!" will shoot you for obeying the cop that said "Get on the ground!"? Or vice-versa.

Either way, the other cop will swear it was a righteous shoot, and they'll both bemoan the fact that they forgot to turn their bodycams back on after lunch.

That being said, every one of the numerous interactions I've had with law enforcement has been very professional, save one. In that case the next officer who showed up at the scene of the accident apologized to me for the actions of his colleague. This was before either his colleague or I said a single word to him.

Some day that burned out CHP officer is going to mouth off to the wrong guy and earn having a stretch of 395 named after him.

I don’t see it either. That’s why I hold my opinion. I prefer to know the facts.

He told his lawyer 100 seconds. Does that make it true? We don’t know with what we see. He was told multiple times to get out of the car. He should have done that. Driving 100+ seconds didn’t send a message that he was wanting to cooperate.

But, again, I prefer to wait until more comes out.
