On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) said that the fact that there are four senators representing North and South Dakota but only two representing California “should change, on a number of fronts.”

The Democrats will deem the Constitution a quaint old artifact that has no actual bearing on our system of government.
Back to splitting California. At least this time being honest about creating two liberal states.
The Democrats are now going to say that anyone who defends the Constitution is an “extremist” and - no doubt - a “white-supremacist.”

Not to mention N.& S. Carolina, Virginia and W. Virginia.
How about New Mexico? Isn’t Old Mexico already well represented?

Let a couple million more illegals into California and they might deserve four senators.
Why not complain about Delaware, Vermont, Maine, Hawaii, and the Rhode Island Plantation?
This was the compromise the constitution ironed out. How to give just representation to large states (Virginia then) and not totally overrun the small states (New Jersey then). Padilla should talk to Patterson!

Why should Vermont have 2 Senate seats? Vermont was not one of the original 13 colonies. Vermont was a county of New York. Maine is the same case, it was part of Massachusetts. Small liberal states like Rhode Island, Delaware, Connecticut, et cetera have 2 Senate seats just like Texas. The liberals always point to Wyoming, North Dakota, and South Dakota and at the same time they ignore the converse.

North Dakota, South Dakota, California, AND ALL OTHER STATES, have the exact same representation - 2 Senators. This is by design and is written into the Constitution.
