Republicans are mad at Major League Baseball. The charge: Engaginginpolitics.
A popular accusation on the right — that not capitulating to their particular ideology is pejoratively political.
The intertwinement of sports and politics is well-documented . Taxpayer money put toward stadiums to house teams owned by billionaires, millions of dollars donated to predominantly Republican candidates by those team owners, the whole antitrust exemption and a congressional act protecting baseball’s right to underpay its minor leaguers.
In the wake of the January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, MLB’s PAC suspended political donations to both parties, lest they continue to financially back someone who instigated an attack on the government. But it’s hard to be bipartisan and uncontroversial when one side is the party of an attempted coup.
Movkng the game is perhaps a heartening testament to the changing times, a new standard of decency.
The Georgia GOP passed a bill so divisive it immediately sparked a national conversation and MLB had to say something. The right is just pissed that a sport with such big flags wouldn’t tacitly endorse their attempts to put a thumb on the scale of democracy.
Senate Bill 202 is a response to Trump’s claim that the presidency was stolen from him.
But the voter fraud didn’t happen. And, as has been repeatedly proven in courts of law, Trump’s assertion about the impropriety of the election he lost was a Big Lie.
MLB’s decision to move the gameto Colorado is a referendum on just how pernicious S.B. 202 is. And everything else is a coverup of that fact.

Wow - that’s a LOT of projection.
I bet this guy used to post about the politicization of plying the national anthem before the game too.
HANNAH KEYSER
Thank you for reminding me why I don’t want to watch, hear, or read about MLB this year.
I have NHL on while working from home right now. It hasn’t jumped the shark like NFL and MLB. It probably will, because the left is determined to destroy everything good about America and we are not determined to destroy everything bad about the left, but there is this moment of respite on the ice.

this is what passes for journalism these days.
It’s a complete waste of time to read anything that Yahoo puts out - when it comes to fake news, Yahoo is a world leader, right up there with Pravda, TASS, Xinhua, and MSNBC...
Aren’t editors supposed to ensure an article is factually written? This is like a teenager telling you the facts of life because he heard it from a friend. This article is so sophomoric In its attempt to push an agenda is laughable and not worth the bandwidth required to read it.
Yawn...just another hateful, delusional lefty. Nothing new here.
I am doing MLB, Coke and Delta, etc. a favor. I am sure they do not want my unWoke dollars. Its the principle.
Uh no.
The truth is that the other side pulled off the coup.
“But the voter fraud didn’t happen. And, as has been repeatedly proven in courts of law, Trump’s assertion about the impropriety of the election he lost was a Big Lie.”
There you have it on full display: the true believer.
Well heck yes, next they will be like all those bands that don’t want Republicans playing their music. Coke etc.. will be expending money next to rip their product from your hands because you are not worthy to have it.
Wow that really changes my argument.
If anything I bet it further confirms it
Maybe we should buy more and go viral with pics of the product beside our MAGA hats or MOLON LABE tshirts.
Is that a dood?
This woman despises baseball.
She uses it as a bat to hit conservatives who REALLY DO want politics out of sports.
Women’s soccer will welcome her into the fold, they have just the right politics for her — which she prefers to sports anyway..
