Duking It Out HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, 1921-2021

that HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, the longest-serving Royal consort in history, died in the early hours of the morning, just a few weeks before his hundredth birthday. There will be many of the Queen's subjects who will believe that he did not make his century because of the vile conduct of his wretched grandson and the in-law from hell - and I would not disagree with that, God rot both of them.

Here's what I wrote four years ago upon the occasion of his retirement from official Royal engagements around the Commonwealth in the autumn of 2017. He was ninety-six, which is thirty years past the average retirement age - or four-and-a-half decades past it, if you're a French or Greek civil servant. A week or so after the announcement, on one of his final public engagements, some old soldier said to him he regretted the retirement. Prince Philip muttered, "I've done my bit". The mathematician Michael Atiyah told him he wished he wasn't standing down. The Duke replied, "Well, I can't stand up much longer." As it turned out, he outlasted the younger Sir Michael....

Prince Philip has been doing it longer than anyone in the history of the Royal Family, since the day in 1952 when he and Princess Elizabeth were at Treetops in Kenya and received the news that George VI (the King's Speech guy) had died. Harry Truman was in the White House; Stalin was in the Kremlin; some fellow called Mao had just taken over in China. That's a long time.

Here’s a hilarious compilation of Prince Phillip’s public pronouncements. I’m sure his private pronouncements were twice as hilarious!

My favorite of Prince Phillip is this: “If you see a man open a car door for his wife, it’s either a new car or a new wife.”

Yes a very long, incredible world history and changes to have lived through and assisted the Queen in fighting for Western Civilization and against the Comintern and Globalists of every stripe.

What a life. Going to spend a good bit of time reviewing. He also contributed genetic material to confirm the remains of Tsar Nicholas and his murdered family, including the hemophiliac Alexei— a real tragedy of the ineffectual King (the Tsar’s cousin) allowing Lloyd George to prevent their rescue.

Physically identified by Dr. William Maples (before the fall of Soviet Russia), and later DNA confirmed (such that the Orthodox Church accepted the remains for burial). Fascinating bit of history about Prince Philip. One tough individual- and what a passage of time and history.

Yes, royalty indeed. Not trash like those two.

this is terrible news. The Duke had just spent a month in the hospital and everyone was so optimistic he would be right as rain again. God Save the Queen. (and let’s hope Harry comes back for the funeral to stay and get a divorce)

Oh, to be a fly on the wall in Montecito. No doubt MeAgain will be night-crowing into Harry’s ear what an awful person his grandfather was and how good it is he’s gone. And Harry wondering what he was thinking when he married this monster.

I wasn’t optimistic, I had a feeling he went home knowing it would be his final days.

I read them all; I would have liked to have had a beer with this guy.

Of course I am not sure he would have spoken to a lowlife like me.

His various quotes are hilarious. He was like your favorite crazy uncle in the things he would utter.

That said, it must be remembered that he was no fop. This man was a decorated naval officer and combat veteran who saw action in several battles in the Mediterranean and later in the Pacific in World War II.

Ha! One thing’s for sure, in this PC world, we’ll never see the likes of him again, and that’s a pity.

Some great ones there. Seems he had a wonderful sense of humor and didn’t take himself too seriously.
