The EU’s drug regulator is reviewing reports of rare blood clots in four people who received Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccine and has expanded its inquiry into AstraZeneca’s shot to include reports of a bleeding condition.
Of the four serious cases of clotting and low platelets, three occurred in the US during the rollout of J&J’s vaccine from its Janssen pharmaceuticals unit, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) said on Friday, adding that one person had died and one case was reported in a clinical trial. It was the first news of EMA’s inquiry into the J&J vaccine.

One of my favorite phrases,
“We believe the benefits outweigh the potential problems.”
1 and a half years ago when I was working in the hospital on the tele floor I spoke with an icu nurse about the Covid patients in icu she told me they had blood clots and died real quick before even a code could be even be assembled. This is not new news.
I had a cat who got blood clots, along with hemolytic anemia, from taking an anti-anxiety medication. (She was an indoor cat who got very stressed by seeing strange cats come into the yard.)
According to the veterinarian, ANY drug can cause thrombocytopenia and/or hemolytic anemia.
In addition, I would point out that someone who gets all excited about an extremely rare event that has affected 4 out of how many millions who have received a vaccine, an event that might not even be related to a vaccine, but is unconcerned about the 1 in 50 people who die and the 1 in 3 who have long term disabilities following the disease that the vaccine prevents has their priorities all wrong. There is nothing rational about falling for anti-vax hooey while dismissing the real dangers of infectious disease. In fact, anyone who wants to see how our public schools have failed has only to look at the number of people who fall for anti-vax hokum.
Just stop it. Please. It’s possible to be pro-vaccine, pro-Covid vaccines and also care about the RARE side effects and expect transparency and investigations into the matter. What are you suggesting? That these cases are too isolated to be worth covering?! Let people make up their own minds. Otherwise you’re no better than the Q conspiracy theorists.
