Breaking: Arkansas House votes to override Hutchinson veto on transgender youth bill

The Arkansas House on Tuesday voted to override Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s (R) veto on the legislation that would ban gender reassignment surgeries and other treatments for transgender youth.

The majority Republican state House voted 72 to 25 to approve the controversial bill, called HB1570, now sending the legislation back to the Arkansas Senate for approval to negate the governor’s rejection of the bill, according to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. Both chambers require a simple majority to override the veto.

Under the bill, physicians are banned from giving gender confirming hormone treatment, puberty blockers or surgery to those younger than 18.

Hutchinson decried the bill as a form of government overreach during his Monday announcement that he would veto the legislation.

"If [the bill] becomes law we are creating new standards of legislative interference with physicians and parents as they deal with some of the most complex and sensitive matters dealing with young people," he said.

His refusal to sign the bill restricting treatment for transgender youth came after he did sign a different piece of legislation last month preventing transgender women and girls from participating on K-12 and collegiate-level sports teams aligned with their gender identity.

Advocates and experts have condemned the bill saying it's a form of discrimination and its supporters cited concerns about hormone treatment that are misinformation. But proponents of the bill said it is for the health and safety of children in the state.

“If [the bill] becomes law we are creating new standards of legislative interference with physicians and parents as they deal with some of the most complex and sensitive matters dealing with young people.”

Apparently preventing deluded children from mutilating themselves in controversial.

Override - Veto - On ban...

I'm having trouble reconciling a triple negative ...

So the ban on trans surgery for kids is approved?

Yep, that’s where we are at. We are told that we are supposed to be liberal on “Trans” issues, regardless of age. Prepubescent children who claim to be the opposite sex are to be enabled in their delusion. At least that is per the liberals, media, Hollywood idiots, etc.

Actually, I think that the Legislature wants to forestall the potential of a Federal Government mandate imposing requirements and funding on the states for gender mutilation and such atrocities for minors, before they become iron clad law, circumventing parental control, and simple sanity.

Am I trans-phobic? Not at all. Grow up, think for yourself. If you want to destroy your life at that point, you will be allowed to. But no one should ever impose this upon a society that rejects it. We are not all delusional anti-life death cult serfs.

The Bill in question, would ban parents from mutilating their children, for sexual re-assignment.

Much like cutting the legs off girls who think they are Mermaids. Because we all know, Mermaids don’t have legs, right?

For reasons unimaginable, this Governor vetoed the bill; so it was Overridden.

Good for the AR House. Hopefully the Senate is next.

Where do all these fake conservative Governors come from? How on Earth can they endorse this insanity?

This was Asa’s plan all along. It passes the buck of this “controversy” off to the legislature leaving him appearing moderate.

All of the confusing double negatives in this “news report” remind me of the old Rush parody of James Carville “debating” Kenneth Starr on “Larry King Alive.”

Maybe Hutchinson doesn’t want to be the bull’s eye for the ban and knew what his legislature would to if he vetoed.

Keep in mind that these are the same sort of jackasses that won’t protect girls from female genital mutilation.
