There’s no point in worrying about theoretical possibilities. Might as well worry about whether a giant meteor might strike the Earth in 5 years. Could it? Sure. Does worrying about it today do anything? No.

Then why worry about getting COVID-19? Why get the vaccine. You might as well worry about a giant meteor striking the earth as getting COVID?

Why worry about Biden being a disaster as president? There’s no point in worrying about theoretical possibilities. Might as well worry about whether a giant meteor might strike the Earth in 5 years. Could it? Sure. Does worrying about it today do anything? No.

Why worry about the Democrats taking away the 2nd Amendment? There’s no point in worrying about theoretical possibilities. Might as well worry about whether a giant meteor might strike the Earth in 5 years. Could it? Sure. Does worrying about it today do anything? No.

“They’re saying they work LONGER than 6 months.”

When things last forever, they would say that. When they say “at least 6 months”, they mean barely over 6 months. :-)

So let me get this straight...If not for the vaccine, we wouldn’t need a vaccine?

“...until next year's variants need to be vaccinated...”

In some old (2012) vaccine efforts against SARS(?) using more standard vaccines (not mRNA) the studies showed that mammals (mice and primates) that got the vaccine would ALL get an autoimmune disease when they were exposed later to a “wild” (variant?) version of SARS.

Are we vaccinating all of the bats, cats, dogs?

No, they’ll say what they have study data to back up. The study looks at people vaccinated 6 months ago. You can’t say “forever” based on what’s happened in the past 6 months.

The 2012 study looked at one particular candidate with animal models.

None of the issues discussed in the study as potential risks for the future have come up and people have been going around for over a year with the vaccines (March 16th 2020).

All this for something with a 98-99% recovery rate. One of the highest numbers ever recorded in the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System. Hmmm.

This follow up study is from the Phase 1 Moderna trial and covers 33 participants...:-)

https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc2103916

“The durability of protection is currently unknown. We describe mRNA1273-elicited binding and neutralizing antibodies in 33 healthy adult participants in an ongoing phase 1 trial,2-4 stratified according to age, at 180 days after the second dose of 100 μg (day 209).”

“Although the antibody titers and assays that best correlate with vaccine efficacy are not currently known, antibodies that were elicited by mRNA-1273 persisted through 6 months after the second dose, as detected by three distinct serologic assays. Ongoing studies are monitoring immune responses beyond 6 months as well as determining the effect of a booster dose to extend the duration and breadth of activity against emerging viral variants. Our data show antibody persistence and thus support the use of this vaccine in addressing the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The supplementary appendix shows the varying antibody levels individually for each participant on page 11.

My dad had covid over a year ago and still has the antibodies in his blood. The shot works for at least 6 months.

If that were remotely true, you will have to get your Spring shot and then your Fall shot, wear two or more masks and hide out in your basement to stay safe.

What this study was measuring is the level of antibody dilution at different time points using three different assay methods and all three assays showed varying results.

Two of the methods showed a few participants actually losing most of their antibodies.

The study specifically states “...the antibody titers and assays that best correlate with vaccine efficacy are not currently known.”

I wasn’t aware trials started so early. There were very few cases in the US at that time so that was good forward thinking. Of course, there was only one known Covid death in the US on January 31 when the President banned China travel, so that too was good forward thinking.

Important to note the “at least” here. They aren’t saying they only work for 6 months. They’re saying they work LONGER than 6 months; possibly forever. But they have data demonstrating at least 6 months of effectiveness.

Now don't let the truth get in the way of a good narrative...

The other thread about this the article said the same thing - that based on observable data, the vaccine had lasted 6 months already. Followed by multiple replies saying it only lasts 6 months.

I predict that there will be a never-ending ‘new’ strain about every six months or so..................
